Has anyone had any experience attending Nursing school at College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas? I have looked at thier pass rates with the state. How is the program there? Any advice on application/ acceptence?
either that...or she didn't know what she was talking about. I run into that a lot at COM. Everyone tells you a different thing. Best thing to do is to talk to the Nursing Dept-Anne Jeffords or head of allied health sciences dept - Jameeka WIlliams I think. The testing center couldn't even tell me what my reading score was equivalent to in regards to the nursing app. I highly doubt they will be requiring the TEAS reading portion since I just took the TEAS V for UTMB and it is not really segmented down...I mean it is, but its all together....I didn't even have the choice as to which section I took first.
If I am not supposed to say names I am sorry.
Did she say whether or not that COM was going to be testing for the TEAS reading portion on campus? All of the testing centers I know of around here are designated for certain schools... I had to go to West Houston to test for UTMBGalveston. Its their only testing location for UTMB! I think its really weird that they would do this. Did she say that it was a new thing for spring? Because I never heard anything about it...only the accuplacer....and this was just in the beginning of May!
If they do switch.....I know the reading on the TEAS V is a hellova lot harder than that of the accuplacer. Just sayin....
PLEEEEASE Let me get in for the fall!!! I have been avoiding the TEAS like the plague. I am serously over this testing thing. Every school is different. TEAS, HESI, SAT, ACT, NET, Accuplacer... Like it would be alot easier for students if all schools take one test. And require the same sections. I took the math and reading part of the HESI for Lonestar a few years ago only to find out that other schools require science. Lonestar only lets you use the scores for a year so I'd have to retake the whole thing to reapply with them and San Jac will use the scores and let me just take the science. Its all too much.

For UTMB? They said 75-80% overall is a competitibe range and the minimum is 58%.
