College of the Canyons Summer/ Fall 2019

Hello All:

Starting a thread for those of us applying to COC Summer/ Fall 2019 RN program. I am specifically applying to the LVN to RN program. Lets keep each other updated on status.

Thx. I emailed Julie... The only school that keeps your complete application including your TEAS score is Glendale community college so this will be the first time if COC did it.

Thanks! I’m trying not to get my hopes up... I have a 3.6 GPA, my CNA license... relevant work experience, and got an 85 on the TEaS... I have had friends applying with me with lower GPAs and lower TeAS scores and had to retake core classes and got into other schools (including COC).. so it’s hard to always be hopeful. But good luck to everyone!

This is your third time applying to COC? but your stats are so impressive I am surprised they didn't accept you!

How many points do you have? It seems like you should have enough for CoC...

Apparently the lottery system is used since so many schools are being FLOODED with applications... I don’t remember my exact points.... but even COC has lottery too... my friend got her acceptance call negative she even submitted her TEAS results 2 semesters ago... so idk.

CoC is mostly based on points with a small percentage getting chosen via lottery.

That’s good to know I guess... I guess my friend was just lucky at both valley and COC. She repeated core classes and only had a 72 on TEAS.Like I said COC emailed her that she got in and then asked her for her TEAS results....

As far as I know theres a total of 50 people actually accepted into the program with 45 people picked based on the selection criteria and the last 5 are picked through lottery. I'm not sure how many alternates they pick though.

Are the people selected for alternates by lottery or people with the next highest points?

Not sure but i'd assume it's based off points
