College of the Canyons Spring 2020

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a new thread for anyone applying to COC for the Spring 2020 term so we can share stats and info during the admission process. This will be my second time applying to the program so if you have any questions I’m happy to try answer any questions you might have about my experience from applying for the Fall 2019 term. Anyways, welcome and I’m excited to hear from you guys!

Are you applying anywhere else?

Yes I plan on applying a few RN and LVN programs.
I’m more applying for the fall. Right now I’m thinking whether I should apply for a 27k tuition LVN program that’s has good hours or a cc LVN program.

the 27k LVN program starts in July and I can save up. But it doesn’t have a skills lab. Which I want.

the 6,500 tuition cc LVN program is I either in antelope valley or Pasadena and they’re both far but it’s cheap and I may transfer to the bridge LVN to Rn program because they get priority in application. It doesn’t start until like August.

Did you apply to any of the lottery based ADN programs? Pierce, Glendale, LAVC, LACC?

Is the LVN school you're looking at accredited? Just make sure you do your research. Sometimes I felt like this too, I was eager to get in anywhere. I considered West Coast University because I thought I would not get in anywhere else.

Just keep trying! I know you'll get in somewhere. Keep the faith!

Hey everyone! Still in the alternate position hoping for a spot open to open. Does anyone know of any other alternates that have gotten in? If so do you mind sharing their/your number on the list?

many thanks!

I'm alternate #9 and I still haven't heard anything.

Anyone who started the program yet? How's it going?

Hi guys! I’m new here! I applied to COCs nursing program for Fall 2020! I got invited to take the TEAS and I got a 78%. I have a good GPA overall and a good science GPA. I have my CNA certification, I’m bilingual and have an associates. Do you guys know if this would be enough to get in? Also, how do the points work? On the ATI website it said I had an advanced score but I still don’t know how the point system works. Can someone help?

I’m on the same boat. Scored roughly an 80 and my GPA is 3.4. I don’t have high hopes because previous stats seem to be significantly higher ?

I’m nervous. I don’t know how everything works at COC. I have other stuff that helps like my CNA certification but I don’t know if it’s enough. Do you know anyone who has gotten a lower score on TEAS and has gotten in? My score was considered advanced so I don’t know.

I am not sure if it is still the same. But this is a point sheet from a few semesters ago!

Damn.. going off that chart I barely get like 58pts. That’s so low. I thought I had a decent chance hahaha with an 80 TEAS, 3.4 overall, 3.3 in my bio classes + a few extra pts.

I actually saw this chart and I calculated it and I literally have the same. If I’m calculating right I have 58ish points. This is why I’m nervous. I could have technically put more things but the things I put were honest. Do you know anyone who got in with the same amount of points?

No, all of my friends scored a 90 on the TEAS and had like 3.5 or higher hahah.
