College of the canyons (COC) nursing program

Hi! Anyone hear yet from COC for Fall 2011 semester?

I'm not sure if they are only sending out acceptance emails, or if they will also let you know if you didn't get in this term. Does anyone know?

Thanks!~

kbugg -- You are in. My e-mail says specifically that I am an alternate. I also have direct patient volunteer experience so I really don't understand their admissions criteria.

Nice day - you still have a very good chance of getting in. I'm sure there will be a few who will decline their seat and you'll take their spot.

Thanks Neir, crossing my fingers. I also applied to the County program in Sylmar but COC is my first choice.

Got my rejection letter :crying2:

Im an alternate also. Does anyone know how many people are on the alternate list?

@nier ::I'm sorry to hear that

Sorry Neir. Have you applied anywhere else?

Got my rejection email too! From what I was told, their are 60 slots per semester, they take the 30 top students and the other 30 slots are chosen by computerized lottery, so that students who don't have 4.0's also have a chance to become RNs. If you were invited to take the TEAS, you were eligible for the program. We just have to reapply in August and hope we get selected for Spring 2012! I have a friend who waited 2 years before getting in.

Does anyone know if this waitlist process is generally everywhere? I'm wondering if it would be easier to get in somewhere in the middle of nowhere or out of state. Does anyone know?

Congrats to those of you who were accepted!

I got my rejection email today at 3 pm. Ick. Still waiting on 5 other applications. Congrats to those who were accepted!

Wow...must have been on the random part of the group for sure. Nice Day-thanks for the info. Also just gave a call to a friend of mine that was on the alternate list last semester and he got in, so im sure you'll have a great shot, especially with your criteria. Lon537-I know antelope valley college, Santa Monica, and Santa Ana have a 3 semester waitlist but many can only wait two semesters since most people get into other programs before. Neir-my heart goes out to you. keep trying. keep trying. apply to AVC SMC and SA just in case. Also Valley college is still accepting this month only but you have to mail your apps directly from your school(if not in Laccc) then get a counseling appointment so jump on it asap and East Los starts apps June 6-31.

I got my acceptance letter today! I'm in! COC isn't my first choice though bc I live in Orange County. I've applied to 8 other schools...so if I get into a school closer you can have my spot Neir! i'm just happy to be accepted anywhere! Congrats to all who were accepted or chosen for alternates. I'll see you April 22nd!

fyi - A micro, A physio, B anatomy, 3 years direct patient exp and and 81 on the teas V. and a 3.3 regular gpa.

I got my e-mail! On the alt list. I also know 2 others on the alt list. Anyone know how many people are on the list?? Or how they select the people from the list??

I got my email on Friday around 10am and I'm in for fall 2011! Congrats to the others who made it and good luck to the ones on the alt list! My stats are 92% on the TEAS, C+ in micro, B in anatomy, and A in physio with a 3.3 overall gpa. I have my BS in biology with an emphasis in physician's assistant studies and I have 2 years of direct patient care experience. I'm so excited, I can't wait until the 22nd to learn more.

kbugg - I'm right there with you, I must have been on that random selection group too.
