College of the canyons (COC) nursing program

Hi! Anyone hear yet from COC for Fall 2011 semester?

I'm not sure if they are only sending out acceptance emails, or if they will also let you know if you didn't get in this term. Does anyone know?

It's Spring Break this week at COC. We probably won't hear anything until next week. Orientation is April 22, so it has to be before then.

I'm anxiously waiting as well. Took the teas test at coc march 25 and was told they would email first week of April. Do you know if they will email whether or not you are accepted?

Yea I know took the teas as well on the 25th and they said it would be the first week of april. That means we only have one day left. i was wondering what was supposed to be a good score on the teas? meaning what percintile would you have to make in order to get in?

Forgot it's spring break.. Thanks for the reminder. Guess That means more waiting. Hope I hear from them next week. I'm so nervous...

They will email us either way if we are accepted for Fall 2011 or still waiting for 2012. I ended up emailing the nursing counselor to find out! She emailed me back, so I think they are working, or working from home. I'm hoping we find out tomorrow. I've been checking my email 40 times a day :) As far as a good score on the TEAS, I'm not really sure. I think the TEAS were just for auditing purposes, unless you were among the highest scoring applicants. I think it was used to differentiate between them. Not positive though!

As for the Teas exam, the nursing brochure from coc says "Students must rank at the required level to be eligible for the program. Currently this is a 62% composite score..." so I guess as long as you got 62% and higher they would consider you... I know LAVC requires at least 67% ... And Antelope Valley College a 75% I think.

I was thinking that they might have ranked the teas test on a point system on the overall score as well as section scores. But this makes sense as well it gives me less stress.

Just got the acceptance Letter. Real excited about this especially since I was just walking out the door to apply at Citrus. Anyone else hear from them yet?

That's awesome news kbugg... congratulations! I havent gotten anything yet. To tell you the truth, I highly doubt I'll get in. Although I did decent on the TEAS (81.2%) My GPA isnt that great. Hope many more will get their acceptance letter today... hope i hear from them either way so that Im not left in the dark.

If it's okay with you kbugg, can you tell me your stats?? Overall GPA, your GPA in core sciences, TEAS exam grade, and if you've had any experience in healthcare. Just want to know where I stand and how slim my chances are. Thank you.

Thanks! Had an overall GPA of 3.0. a pending A.S degree. an A in Micro and Physio and B in Anatomy. No healthcare experience. and a 78% on the teas. Wasn't really expecting much... but I guess I got lucky or something. I'm probably going to be an alternate or something. It doesn't say on the email but i'm thinking i'll find out when I attend the orientation.hmmm. Anyway let me know if you find out any info. remember hope for the best prepare for the worst. Im keeping my fingers crossed for ya.

Just got my e-mail...Alternate. :crying2: I have A's in all my science pre-reqesites and 86 on the TEAS. Go figure.
