College of the canyons (COC) nursing program

Hi! Anyone hear yet from COC for Fall 2011 semester?

I'm not sure if they are only sending out acceptance emails, or if they will also let you know if you didn't get in this term. Does anyone know?

Thanks!~

I'm in for the Fall 2011 RN Program at COC!!! Very excited!!!! Can't wait!!!!! :)

So I found out that 30 applicants were randomly picked to be on the alt list. They will not reveal your place on the list....they say because it changes every day. But as soon as they get notice from a student declining their spot they take the next on the alt list and call them.

So does this mean that your place on the list can change daily? For example, could I be #10 one day and #30 the next as they scramble us up randomly, or do I have a certain position on the list and that position could change daily as people ahead of me are called? I'm confused!!!! And I sure hope their program isn't this confusing.

I am confused also. I would assume that we have a place on the list and we get moved up everytime so we are always changing but then why couldnt they tell me how close I was to being #1 or #30?? If I find out I'll let you know =)

I'm an alternate also, and from what I understand our positions are always changing because we are being moved UP on the list due to those dropping or declining seats. Does anyone know if the alternates who don't get bumped up for fall get an automatic seat for spring? Or we have to go through the app process again?

From what I understand, there is no rolling wait list from semeseter to semester. If we don't get in this time we have re-apply next semester. The only thing you don't have to re-do I recently saw on the COC web-site is you don't have to re-submit your pre-requisites for evluation.

I heard the same thing....we have to reapply but don't need to submit our pre reqs and don't have to retake the teas.

Anybody know if the alts need to complete all their stuff (CPR, fire card, physical, background check, etc) before the may 27th deadline?? Or is it just if you get in??

Yes, I believe we do have to do everything and meet all the deadlines as well. That's why it doesn't make sense to me that we wouldn't be automatically in for spring if we don't get in for fall. That's a lot of money to spend if we aren't in!

Many other programs have their alternates get automatically in the next semester so I hope this one will be the same.

I guess we ask on Friday.

For all the Alts: They said that 50 people were IN and there were 30 Alts. But I only counted 68 people there. Wasnt the meeting manditory? Does this mean those that were not there are out?? Im looking for any hope of getting in =)

Thanks for counting!! Has any of the Alts received an emailing saying they are in??

Nope... anyone else??
