Cochran School of Nursing Spring 2020

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello Everyone,

I created this thread for students who are applying to Cochran School of Nursing for Spring 2020. ( I'm interested in the evening program).

Has anyone submitted their application? Has anyone taken the kaplan exam? There's an information session on Oct 15th is anyone planning to go?

For those of you who have taken the kaplan exam how was it? What materials did you use to study?

Students who are currently in the program or graduated from this program are welcome to give some tips, suggestions of feedback about the program. Any little info will help.

Thanks everyone

Thank you Chijioke Obga for the info. Am not sure what my GPA is. However, I got A- in micro, A&PI&II B&B-, Chemistry B+, ENGI&II B&B, PSYI B, Development PSY B. Have other classes that they didn't require like statistic with an A.

Hey everyone! This is a little off topic but I’m having trouble getting info and seeing as how many of you got accepted into the program I figured I’d give it a shot! I plan on applying to the fall 2020 term. My question is has anyone taken the teas before and if so how similar was it to the Kaplan? I took the teas last month for an lpn program because I wanted to start sooner and was worried about not getting into Cochran the first time around. I scored an 85 on teas. I did get accepted to the program but now I’m wondering if getting a score like this on the Kaplan would be high enough to get me into Cochran for the fall instead? Has anyone gotten in with this score?

You should get in with a score of 85

Hi guys regarding the health forms do we have to get the meningitis vaccine or can we sign a waiver

Hi SLME, I took the TEAS as well passed for my school of choice but the program is hybrid which wont work with my life and work schedule. In my personal opinion the TEAS is different with the science, some areas in the math and the writing is way off. Kaplan writing is similar to PSAT. The math has conversion like medz calculation which is not on the TEAS. The reading is similar. I would you trying for Cochron it's a very good program. I am currently working with some excellent nurses who graduated from there. Getting an 85 on the Kaplan is a sure in as long as your GPA is 3.0 and higher. I scored a 69 but didn't get in because they factor in your GPA so if someone has a 4.0 and score a 65 and above they ranked higher than someone who score 69 with a GPA of 3.5.The key to getting in is to score high on Kaplan and have a high GPA. I am also going to retest for a higher score and complete a class that I was missing to improve my chances. All the best future nurse!

I believe we have to because I don't see a waiver form for that specific vaccination. I got mine done in 2007. You should speak to your provider to double check, and they can also do a blood test to see if you had that vaccine done or not.

@Mj33 just wanted to confirm, with the math for Kaplan, did you come across medical conversions? Drips, ML to L, grains, etc conversion?

Hey guys. Just wanted to confirm that day class students registration is January 8th at 9:30am right?

Yes the 8th at 9:30. A quick question the scrib pants is royal blue right

Yeah, I believe so. But I think the school is supposed to send us a link to order our uniform.

I tried emailing and calling Brandy about our scrubs but no reply. No idea when we will receive information about ordering them. I know from previous students, there's a deadline to order them.

They will send you an email with all that information including what books you'll need. For basics you won't need your uniform till about February. However, it does take time from the time ordered to receive the uniform but for the most when they give you the info it's enough time. No one in my class had an issue & we all had our uniforms when needed.

The pants are royal blue.

you will mostly will need a white lab coat for the very beginning since you'll be in the lab first learning how to take vitals etc..
