COC - College of the Canyons - Spring 2014

Published

I'm starting this thread for everyone applying for COC's spring 2014 RN program. Please feel free to join in. We're all in this together! For anyone who's thinking of applying, the deadline for turning in your transcripts and requesting your prerequisite evaluation is tomorrow!

I'm an LVN hoping to get into the LVN to RN program. I applied last year and received an email notifying me that I qualified for the program but that they didn't have the required 20 qualified LVN applicants to offer the class. Booo hooo hooo... Oh well, I completed all of the General Ed classes in the meantime and have my fingers crossed for this time around :-)

I'm a little nervous about the TEAS V test and am starting to study for it. I read that the test is pretty challenging. Yikes!

I look forward to hearing from my fellow nail-biters!

I think mid October will be sometime next week! People need time to get the mandatory October 25th off. Well I would hope they take this into account since most work and have other obligations etc.

I was looking at other threads from preious years and they usually notify on the 16th.... It seems so far away!

I've got my fingers crossed that we receive our notifications on Monday! Oh, the suspense of it all! I can almost hear the seconds ticking off in my head! Tick, tick, tick...

I only wish I had looked at the clock with 8 minutes left! My bad... I'm sooo glad I can stop studying that stupid periodic table!

Hi All,

So nice to stumble upon a well developed forum. I am anxiously waiting to see that selection email - hoping it comes today! I am 3rd time applicant and have been an alternate twice! Talk about frustrating...

Best of luck to you all!

Jess

Hi Jlwinkle1015!

All this waiting is seriously difficult! I'm starting to develop a twitch! It must be crazy nerve-wracking going through this for the 3rd time! Hopefully the 3rd time's a charm!

Wow! I've been waiting almost two years for another school but have never been an alternate! That must he frustrating! Do you have to go through the orientation everytime? Do you mind if I ask your stats? TEas score, GPA ect ?

I'm really hoping COC accepts me! I feel like I'm going a bit crazy waiting for the email. I mostly want them to accept me so I don't have to spend money sending my Teas scores to the other 4 schools I applied to. It's hard being a 22 year old with a part time job and going to school. Luckily my parents still help out a bit!

Jlwinkle1015, I was also wondering what your stats were if you don't mind sharing!

P.S. Any other males here that are applying? I know I saw 3 other guys when I took my teas test.

Hi erick2768!

I hear you! Sometimes it seems like an endless money pit!

What other schools did you apply to?

If I remember correctly, there were three males taking the TEAS when I took my test. I was shocked that three people scheduled to take the test never showed up! They kept calling their names and there wasn't any response :-O

Hi 2dawn,

Maybe the people who were not there already took to TEAs? If not better for all of us : )

Yes! If I get in, this will be my third orientation! I could recite it by now. Haha! Last semester they called me (and 3 others) a week before school started to attend the first week of classes in case anyone dropped/no-show. 2 of the 4 of us got in that week. Bummer, but I got a good feel for the first week of all the chaos! :)

My TEAS was a 75 (my fault - I wasn't aware the test was 3 weeks away and one of the weeks we were in Cabo - lugging around my ATI study guide

GPA is 3.5 (all A's and B's in sciences and pre-reqs)

15 years of healthcare experience

I think a strong TEAS score pulls you in faster and the other half is really just random lottery.

Still no letter today... Blah!

It's possible that the missing test takers had already taken the TEAS but the email said that those who had already taken the TEAS were supposed to email the nursing office and supply their TEAS results by 10/4. I took my TEAS test on 10/4 so it seems to me that they would have notified the nursing office already and their name would have been taken off the list. Also, I was surprised that the room where we took the test was at most 2/3 full. I thought we'd have a full house!

Cabo will lull you every time! Hahahahaha... I'm dreamy-eyed just thinking about a week of vacation in Cabo!
