COC - College of the Canyons - Spring 2014

Published

I'm starting this thread for everyone applying for COC's spring 2014 RN program. Please feel free to join in. We're all in this together! For anyone who's thinking of applying, the deadline for turning in your transcripts and requesting your prerequisite evaluation is tomorrow!

I'm an LVN hoping to get into the LVN to RN program. I applied last year and received an email notifying me that I qualified for the program but that they didn't have the required 20 qualified LVN applicants to offer the class. Booo hooo hooo... Oh well, I completed all of the General Ed classes in the meantime and have my fingers crossed for this time around :-)

I'm a little nervous about the TEAS V test and am starting to study for it. I read that the test is pretty challenging. Yikes!

I look forward to hearing from my fellow nail-biters!

Jlwinkle1015 - Wow! way to get your hopes up! That's crazy, how are you suppose to plan when your not sure when your gonna get in or if you are?! I didn't do too great on my TEAs either my gpa is ok and I have 10 years healthcare exp also. Really hoping to get in I'm getting discouraged each semester that goes by!! Crossing fingers for all of us!!!!

omgonlyinstilettos - As much as I would of loved getting in last semester while I sat in on the first week, I was so nervous because I would of started out behind. No books, no uniform, no assignments completed, no readings. It's makes for a very scary, awkward start. So ya - there really isn't any planning your life. Just hanging on... It's all meant to be. Our time is coming! Which school have you been waiting 2 years for?

2dawn,

I applied to PCC, GCC, RCC, and AVC. I'm basically already accepted at AVC since you just have to be qualified to get into the program. But they do a waiting list which is anywhere between 1-2 years. So I guess if I don't get into any others in the meantime at least I have AVC as a "back up"

Greetings!!!

So i got my teas results i took it oct 2. Im waiting to hear back as to wheather or not i got in the program. Has anybody heard back yet???

Hey jrosec,

No one on here has heard back yet. The consensus seems to be that people receive emails on the 16th so hopefully Wednesday!

I'll post on here right away when I get an email!

Ok thanks for the info because im so anxious

Yes please post as soon as you hear and ill do the same.

So now i at least have an idea of when to start checking my email, ive been checking my email 20 times a day

No worries! I have been checking it many times as well, which is driving me crazy. I'll keep checking until it happens! At least we all know it's going to happen soon since the 25th is mandatory.

Bravo for covering all the bases! Way to hustle!

Good point that they have to let us know before the 25th :-)

So im just curious if your willing to let me know im wonderig how well everyone did on their TEAS. I got a 79.95% ... Not what i wanted, i thought for sure id get a high B i did so well on the practice tests. But ill take it. The time limit messed with me on the math i had to keep pushing if i wanted to at least get an answer down for each question.

Someone should call and ask when emails are going out :) You all did better on your TEAs than me I can't remember something I leaned yesterday let alone what I learned 10 years ago ! Hoping the random selection chooses me!

jrosec -

They gave you your score to the hundredths? My adjusted individual total score is 80.0% which is the 88th percentile nationally and the 89th percentile for the program. If you don't mind me asking, what is your percentile rank?

2dawn, I though that was weird too, but one of my friends received an 83.3%. I received an 82% which is 91 percentile nationally and 93 percentile for the program. What exactly does the program percentile mean?
