COC - College of the Canyons - Spring 2014

Published

I'm starting this thread for everyone applying for COC's spring 2014 RN program. Please feel free to join in. We're all in this together! For anyone who's thinking of applying, the deadline for turning in your transcripts and requesting your prerequisite evaluation is tomorrow!

I'm an LVN hoping to get into the LVN to RN program. I applied last year and received an email notifying me that I qualified for the program but that they didn't have the required 20 qualified LVN applicants to offer the class. Booo hooo hooo... Oh well, I completed all of the General Ed classes in the meantime and have my fingers crossed for this time around :-)

I'm a little nervous about the TEAS V test and am starting to study for it. I read that the test is pretty challenging. Yikes!

I look forward to hearing from my fellow nail-biters!

Thanks for the update! I'll call them next week to reiterate the issue!

On another note I turned all my stuff in!

Erick2768 -- my primary at kaiser had no openings and they said it had to be with my primary... Sooo I called yesterday and requested my primary to get changed to a doctor that was new with a low patient volume... And it worked! I got all of my papers signed and lab work done today :)

Has anyone gotten the registration date? I re-applied yesterday for Spring semester but haven't gotten anything yet.

I believe they haven't been released yet? I have one but I think that's because I am in a special program. Try calling Admissions and Records, they should be able to help you out!

Dove Apparel also said that they will try to put a sizing chart on the website for us.

It must feel great to have that monkey off your back! I'm still chipping away at the list!

Good thinking!

I already had a registration date posted in My Canyons when I reapplied. Have you checked in My Canyons? I agree with erick, Admissions and Records is probably your best bet.

I had my drug test done on Monday at U.S. Healthworks. They said they would email the results to me in two days. I called them yesterday about 4:30pm because I still hadn't received the results. They emailed them to me today. I was getting concerned that if they didn't email the results to me, they may not have emailed the results to COC either! If you don't get your results, you may want to give them a call :-)

Thanks for the info 2dawn! Do you know if antibiotics intercede with a drug test? I've been on antibiotics since Wednesday for a sinus infection and really hope it doesn't cause I need to get the drug test soon!

I've never worked in a drug testing lab but it just wouldn't make any sense to me that an antibiotic would be mistaken for an illicit drug. If it was, I think that all of a sudden we'd have a huge wave of supposed drug users... I've taken a number of drug tests and I've never heard that antibiotics may be mistaken for illicit drugs :-) You could always call them to verify :-)

2dawn,

Haha that's very true! I just don't want some silly antibiotics to mess up the results so I'll definitely call them today. :)

Hi All,

Trying to chip away at all of this. Anyone recall what the regulations were on the titers? I have titers that were done in 2009. Will they accept this? Thought I'd try here first before calling them on Monday.

Thanks in advance!

Jlwinkle -

I don't recall them giving a time period during which they would accept prior titer results. Hopefully, someone else heard something that I missed :-)

Ok, thanks 2dawn. Hopefully they'll accept them.
