I'm starting this thread for everyone applying for COC's spring 2014 RN program. Please feel free to join in. We're all in this together! For anyone who's thinking of applying, the deadline for turning in your transcripts and requesting your prerequisite evaluation is tomorrow!
I'm an LVN hoping to get into the LVN to RN program. I applied last year and received an email notifying me that I qualified for the program but that they didn't have the required 20 qualified LVN applicants to offer the class. Booo hooo hooo... Oh well, I completed all of the General Ed classes in the meantime and have my fingers crossed for this time around :-)
I'm a little nervous about the TEAS V test and am starting to study for it. I read that the test is pretty challenging. Yikes!
I look forward to hearing from my fellow nail-biters!
I also heard they run small and don't shrink that much. The order form said there was a size chart on the Dove Uniforms' website but I couldn't find it
The uniform samples that were at the orientation were all size Medium and looked like a pretty big medium to me haha. But that's all the I know about the uniforms. Does anyone know what kind of shoes they are getting?

I saw men trying on both of the men's tops and the sizing is completely different between the two of them. The men's classic top was very tight and the men's zip top fit correctly and both of the tops were size medium! I'm not sure what good a sizing chart will do when their tops fit so differently from one style to the next!

As for shoes, I swear by Spira sneakers. After suffering through yet another day of achy, tired feet, I just couldn't take it anymore and stopped by the uniform shop. After trying on all the reasonably priced sneakers without any luck, I slipped on the Spira's and never wanted to take them off!

Since they have a 90 day return policy, I can't figure out why they don't ship out the uniforms until two weeks before the start of the term. My plan of attack is to buy a boatload of pants and tops in different styles and sizes and return what I don't want. I'm having my physical, physical functional abilities test, drug test, immunizations, titers, and TB test on Monday so I probably won't get around to calling them until Tuesday. If you find out anything about how to choose a size when trying to order online and if we can have them shipped to us sooner, please let me know :-)

I neglected to mention the model number for the Spira shoes. For women the model number is SWW202 and the same shoe for men, with only a slight difference in the trim, is model number SWW201. They also have a couple of other all white sneakers that probably work equally well and aren't quite as pricey.
Will do 2dawn! I emailed them and told them my measurements, I'm curious what sizes they will advise me to get. I also asked that very question. Why do they wait so long? and I would like mine mailed asap in case I needed to exchange any before clinical. I just hate it because they are already expensive, but it looks like they make you pay for return shipping if you need to exchange. I'm already stressing on how I will pay for everything... Since I did the CNA program over the Summer at COC they have a lot of overlapping requirements so I don't have to do everything on the list!
Also if anyone lives closer to the Antelope Valley I know of a place out here that does the drug screening for 50 as apposed to the 65 dollar place they send us to. If anyone knows of an even cheaper place than 50 please let me know!
It will be interesting to find out what sizes they tell you to get and how they fit once you get them! I wish the nursing department would carry samples of the different sizes and styles and allow students to at least try them on in the bathroom. It would make things so much easier!
I'm glad to hear that you don't have to do everything on the list! That will save you a heap of time AND money! I'm chipping away at it but it's a real pain!
Thanks for the info guys!! I also plan on ordering a lot of sizes and then returning those that don't fit :)
I just went to the doctor on Thursday and got my blood work done and will find out my results on Tueaday when I get my Tb test done! There's so much to do before next semester!
Does anyone know when our instructors will be emailing us about our classes?? I'm so anxious to see how my schedule is going to be like and what textbooks I need haha.
Unfortunately, I think you're correct erick. *If* I understood correctly at orientation, they won't send out the registration emails until the registration date of the person with the latest registration date. I hope I understood incorrectly! My registration date isn't until 1/15/2014! Hopefully, at least we can find out what books we need so we can purchase our books and get a head start on the reading.

Hey guys has anyone tried to order their uniforms? I'm curious what size I should get... Even though when I tried right now it wouldn't let me select a size? I guess I'll try calling... Did any of you try them on today? From what I've researched they run big, anybody experience this today?... I'm scared I will order a small size, I have broad shoulders and usually have to get a size bigger because of this. I did find this sizing chart from another school, I think it will still apply http://131.118.128.52/UndergraduateNursing/sizing.pdf but according to this I need like extra big sizes than I would normally wear.
