I was talking with a co-worker about her sucess with the ISU LVN to BSN program and she was very unhappy. She said The College Network (TCN) told her the tests would be easy and that if she could pass the study guide questions, then the actual test would be a piece of cake. Then she aced those questions but failed her first couple exams. Mine you, if you fail an exam you have to wait 6 MONTHS before you are able to re-take that subject agian. She signed up with TCN and now is in debt $9,000 to them and has a room full of study guides from them that she claims do not cover the material on the tests. TCN only gives 3 days before you are bound to the contrat and have to pay that money off.
Has anyone taken these CLEP or Dantes tests? Are they really hard? Can you recommend a good study guide for the RN pre-req classes that can be CLEP'ed out?

I actually used the College Network, and so far I have made extremely high grades just by using their study guides. I have tested out of English Comp, Stastics, Microbiology, Anatomy I & II, Gerontology, and Psychology. Hopefully she can have better luck. I did call the Regents College and get their outline of the tests that are administered in my state, Texas. These are free from the Regents College just for asking.
God Bless and Good Luck!

one of my co-workers is currently taking the college network to court for a similar situation.
Are you guys in different states other than texas? I know one of you guys is in Cali. What state is the person that is sueing College Network in? I know that they have sold millions of those study guides. I hope that if they are ripping people off -- they get caught and have to pay restitution. Good Luck!

I've tested out of pre-reqs and nursing exams without TCN. I think they're unnecessary and I don't like that they snagged the domain name excelsior.com to fake an association with Excelsior.edu that doesn't exist.

I'm glad that when I got introduced to Excelsior I hadn't heard about the others and thus didn't have the opportunity to get suckered in because of confusion. I've passed the exams quite easily without using anything but the free study outlines from Excelsior and recommended references as well as test prep books.
nyc is the state

That is really true. its happening to me right now. i can't even cancel , they're forcing me to pay off the whole amount even if i cancel. they said i only have 3 days. But the agent didnt explain it to me when he asked me to sign up. i hope the one whose suing them will win. so they can't do this anymore

I wish I'd never had signed that contract with TCN!
