it's nice to hear good things about nurses in general. i have been a lvn for 18 years, spent about 15 of those in the er.....i love nursing, i mostly work with rn's, there are very few lvn's in the er. in fact, i am the only one at hmh where i work. but.... they all give me respect, i have more years in the er than most of the rn's that i work with. the biggest problem with lack of respect i receive is from "newcomer rn's" ya now the ones that i am training, (sharing my knowledge for their benefit) they tend to think that they will automatically "know" more than any lvn. it's kinda odd, and it makes me wonder if they are taught that in nursing school. most come around after the first "code" or trauma that comes in and the people with experience take over the situation, or the doctor only wants the lvn in the room, because she's been there the longest, and taken care of the same issue with him on numerous occasions. for me, if it had not been for some really great rn's in the er, then i would not know half of what i do. it's all about continuing to learn everyday as well as teaching a newer person that you something everyday. best of luck to all you nurses (bsn's, rn's, lvn's) nursing is a difficult job. god bless all of us!

Are you guys in different states other than texas? I know one of you guys is in Cali. What state is the person that is sueing College Network in? I know that they have sold millions of those study guides. I hope that if they are ripping people off -- they get caught and have to pay restitution. Good Luck!

Hi Jason, I have recently joined the TPAPN program. I noticed that you are from New Waverly, I live in Point Blank, on the lake, for about 10 years. I worked at Huntsville ER for about 5 1/2 years ( 1999-2005). Have you ever been employeed there. Please tell me about you tpapn experience and what I can expect. I am enrolled for a UA that came up + for hydrocodone, (prescribed) but there was also some missing from the hosptial in Houston that I was working at, so the 3 of us that tested + for it were referred to TPAPN.

Texas is good according to what I have read on this posting board. I have worked in ER for the last 17 years as a LVN. All hosptials around the Houston area hire LVN's except St. Lukes, which is kinda crazy since they have a major nursing shortage and fill about 1/3 of thier shifts with agency nurses. I make $19.92 base salary, with critical care diff of $2 per hour. I believe that Long Term Acute Care facilities pay the best around here though. Good Luck and God Bless:saint:

I actually used the College Network, and so far I have made extremely high grades just by using their study guides. I have tested out of English Comp, Stastics, Microbiology, Anatomy I & II, Gerontology, and Psychology. Hopefully she can have better luck. I did call the Regents College and get their outline of the tests that are administered in my state, Texas. These are free from the Regents College just for asking. God Bless and Good Luck!

I also agree with the union statements. My husband's union is awesome, he works at an energy production plant, receives premium pay, vacation, retirement, benefits, ect. I wish that nurses in general had someone on their side fighting for us. Our understaffed working conditions. The fact that we can't leave until relief shows up......and so on.

I find that TPAPN has been a huge road block for me. I joined TPAPN willingly, due to a 3 month ordeal with vicoden. Not addiction, abuse. However, TPAPN does not distinguish between the 2. I have had a horrible time trying to find employment. I have 15 years of experience in the ED, no one wants to hire me and that 3 month period was during August 2005 - October 2005. Anyone with suggestions would be great.
