Tpapn
Great news everyone... I have a name to a union representative that wants to organize in Texas.. Her name is Ha Nguyen (210) 410-1498 and email [email protected]. I do not the specifics about this union, NurseAlliance, and BNE(if they are hand-in-hand). I can assume they want to represent nurses in all aspects of the profession. Please, feel free to call and email any questions.. Also, please post any dialogue. Thanks..

Incarnate Word vs. UT
UIW and UTHSC are both excellent nursing institutions, but SAC is a more cost effective.. SAC is more hard core Nursing upfront and hands on than both UIW and UTHSC; however if BSN is your major than both are excellent choices...

TPAPN:a Four Letter Word?
I know the only way to get the attention of the BNE is to make a stand and prove ourselves (Profession). Many think why and for what?? But, a lot is on the line when you think about what the BNE can do to your license!...! Then, to use TPAPN as the the other arm to enforce rules and manipulate the system is abhorrant! Yes, some nurses need help!! But, when have nurses formed personal opinions about anybody!.. Were we not taught in Nursing School about ethics.. If we can not formulate a plan to govern ourselves and to help those in need; then, why complain about pt. ratio, mandatory overtime, and so on... This issue about TPAPN has gone on far too long and it is time to nip-it-the-bud.. We can do this.. And maybe the baby boomers need to retire and let a new generation move this profession in the right direction.. Forward, instead of bowing our heads and turning the other way !! That way of thinking is 50's and 60's. Let's move forward, strength in numbers!!!!

TPAPN Nurses
I fully understand your ordeal. I, too, am in similar situation. I did everything my case manager told me to do(Addiction specialist, and a Hospital that specializes in behavioral medicine) both have written to TPAPN stating that I have minimal to low desire for abuse. No luck. That is why I am writing about union representation. A union could do a lot for nurses not just for addiction but in all aspects of the profession.. we, at sometime have to stand up. Many nurses are retiring leaving the next generation of young nurses to finally move in the right direction with new ideas about dealing with the pressure nurses face today. Lets move forward. As far as jobs, I applied at a dialysis clinic and was accepted. Try clinics first. More than likely you will get hired. Good luck.

Kaplan Review-prestest...
It usually takes 48 hrs. to get unofficial results. You have to call a 900 number which I believe costs around $9 or go online to the Nclex website and get results. Good luck !!

True, True....

Texas Nursing Info
Why not... this does not follow the Nurse Practice Acts, but under a different occupation.

Kaplan Review-prestest...
When studying for the NCLEX, I used Kaplan 2007-2008 Editon, Princeton Review, and Saunders to pass the NCLEX on my second try. A lot of time will have to be devoted towards studying, but do not panic... Just study. All of the above mentioned, also have accompanying NCLEX style question CD's. which is beneficial.. Be patient and when taking the NCLEX you will find the answer... Good luck!!

TPAPN Nurses
Honestly, does anyone have something to say?!!? If one really thinks about TPAPN, what is the purpose?? No representation, just TPAPN which is a representative of the BNE... A union could do so much for disabled nurses with out having to answer to a state funded entity... How many of you have often wondered about someone or even know of somebody that has a problem without reporting due to reprocussions to the nurse in question???? Unions have to start at the bottom to get the attention of experienced nurses; under staffing, inexperienced nurses, and mandatory overtime to provide safe patient care. Unions can overcome this problem with representation for many and help those in need of help; also, monitor those who do not need harsh restrictions for past misdeeds. I recommend we move forward and look to the future. Representation is key to success for all nurses in Texas..

3rd time taking the nclex
I used KAPLAN NCLEX-RN 2007-2008 edition, SAUNDERS and PRINCETON REVIEW to help me pass. All were beneficial with NCLEX sytle questions CD's. Good luck!!

TPAPN Nurses
Not so, I graduated from nursing school in May of 2006 and was written a letter from the BNE to take part in TPAPN with stipulations. I could not practice as a GN or function as a nurse. I have to wait for the "green light" from my nurse manager to accept a job. I received a DWI in DEC. 97 and have several recommendations from nursing instructors stating my ability to practice and function as a level 1 nurse. Ladies and gentlemen, we, as nurses, have to stand up for our profession and let us govern ourselves without the politics. My wife is a RN and when she told me about a union wanting to start in Texas, I told her not to listen. Soon afterwords, I was handed this injustice. I am not political about this incident, but when does the truth get to be exposed...NEVER!! Police and Firefighters have unions to govern their profession why not nurses?!? Police and Firefighter unions follow steps to ensure their personel are taken care, i.e., professional assistance to help them cope with problems before action is taken. Nonetheless, I am stuck fending for myself with no assistance except to acknowledge what the BNE wants me to do.

TPAPN Nurses
Good evening to everyone, I recently graduated from nursing school, ADN, and was told I have a conditional license due to my 1st DWI, in DEC.97. I have to take part in TPAPN to retain licensure. This is almost 10 yrs. ago and I just want to know if anyone has experienced a similar situation. Unions could definitely work in this state, TEXAS, where I believe we eat our own .
