Hi, nurse-hopefuls! I've been following along on all of the threads from the previous semesters and thought it might be nice to start fresh for the new round. Applications are due in about a month and a half and I was wondering how people were feeling?
My baccalaureate GPA is a 2.9, but my pre-requisite GPA is a 3.73. I also know I have a really strong personal statement. I'm hoping that will make up for my undergrad gpa.
Is anyone else getting nervous? The last thing I'm waiting on are my letter of recommendations so I'm hoping those come in soon...
Hey, guys! :) I found some great information about application status on the "UMSON Fall 2015" forum. Here's an summary/excerpt from a post from PinkEagle, who got in! (it's on page 21 of that forum if you want to read more.)
She called and was able to speak to the "CNL Coordinator" who clarified the process. "Apparently the applications (which is usually around 200 for CNL and 400-500 for BSN) is bundled into chunks and goes through a computer system. The computer then compiles a list that is in alphabetical order. Once that list is complied, they process the application, send it to the committee for review and then request interviews. So yes the process is partly alphabetical but there is no particular order to determine which applicants goes into which particular batch. So in our cases, it is the luck of the draw that our applications weren't within the first batches, but since it is a rolling admissions process that does not mean that we are out of the running. As long as you submitted your application before [sept.] 2 and you meet the minimum requirements, it will be looked at by the committee which should lead to an interview*."
*Which we know of course has become more selective.
Being Committee Ready means that the application has been sent for the faculty and admissions committee to review. This is good! It means that you have all of your requirements turned in and are waiting to hear back about an interview.
For pre-reqs, I learned at an Open House a while ago that while they want you to have as many as you can you at least need to have two lab sciencescompleted. Otherwise, as long as you get your pre-reqs done by the time you start classes, they really have no strong influence. So don't stress about those, just get your "A"!
I had an interview last Thursday and was told I was in the first handful of people they interviewed. I don't know if that meant just for them (the two interviewers) or for the whole program thus far. Either way, I think it goes to show that they are at the very beginning of the selection process! I was also reminded it's rolling admissions, so not everyone will hear at the same time. Hope this helps anyone who's starting to feel anxious! keeping my fingers crossed for all of us

I've been told that less apply for the spring. Also, less have been applying since they switched from the accelerated program. But I would say 200 at most. I've heard that this number does include the incomplete applications and those who really don't qualify.
