CNL Applicants - Spring 2016

Published

Hi, nurse-hopefuls! I've been following along on all of the threads from the previous semesters and thought it might be nice to start fresh for the new round. Applications are due in about a month and a half and I was wondering how people were feeling?

My baccalaureate GPA is a 2.9, but my pre-requisite GPA is a 3.73. I also know I have a really strong personal statement. I'm hoping that will make up for my undergrad gpa.

Is anyone else getting nervous? The last thing I'm waiting on are my letter of recommendations so I'm hoping those come in soon...

Wishing you all luck!

You should join the Facebook group. We were discussing that. I will be waiting to see the financial aid package until I make any decisions. I am also looking into on-campus housing.

Not sure how I feel about on-campus housing just yet. Have you been to any of the open houses? I am going this Sat...

No I haven't. I probably should go to one of them at some point. On-campus housing appears to be more economical than elsewhere in the city because utilities are included and the units are fully furnished. Although, there are comparable priced options out there if you are willing to shop around.

I finally heard back and my interview is on tuesday. I actually have a room opening up in my apartment, if anyone is interested. I live near the Hopkins Homewood campus in Roland Park, but really close to the circulator and UMB shuttle route. It's a 2-bed/2-bath apartment and the rent is $510. Just throwing it out there, if anyone is interested. The room is available January 1.

Hey SKN19 ~ Good luck with your interview on Tuesday! I may be interested in your apt. I live in a 2 bed/2bath apt in DC so I have lots of furniture..and a kitty :) Lets keep in touch!

I'm in! Glad the wait is over.

Hey guys!

I am so glad to read from this thread. I also applied to the UMD CNL program. I was invited for an interview and last month I got an email that I have been accepted into the program. I am so excited, and I look forward to meeting you guys!

Hi,

I got in too. Could you please post the link to the facebook page?

I got in too!! Can't WAIT to meet you all!!!

Anthroinscrubs:

Sorry I totally missed your comment.

For your first semester you will only have four weeks of clinicals, which will be completed at the end of your Fundamentals course. Most likely at a nursing home.

You will have one day devoted to labs, Fundamentals and Assessment. Its a busy day, but a fun one!

As far as supplies you definitely want a long lab coat, good quality stethoscope and pen light.

I hope this helps!

I love UMSON, but it can be a bit confusing when your phasing in so if anyone has questions I would be happy to help!

Has anyone heard anything about financial aid?

I was told that we would be notified some time in December. Hope that helps.
