CNA's graduating in March-April!

Published

This thread is for those of us who are enrolled in a CNA course right now, and/OR will be certified between March and April. Here is where we rant, network, and/or brag about the way our course (s) are going, our experiences finding a job after our course/internship is completed, and what our plans are for the future (Nursing school, etc.).

We started this topic in another thread, lets keep this going! :heartbeat

Here is a little YouTube humor for all of us potential CNA's. A typical day in the life of a Certified Nursing Assistant :yeah::

Hi all! :)

I haven't posted since before my CNA class started but I'm about 4 weeks into it and have only a couple weeks left to go. We just started the skills part this monday. We practiced making unoccupied and occupied beds today...

I have really enjoyed the class so far.:heartbeat I feel like this is really the right direction for me.....

ugggghhhhh.... There are about 3 girls in my class that seem so wrong for this type of career... (rude, judgemental, lazy, start fights, cut corners and cheat) they are very distracting sometimes and it just makes me angry :banghead:...

so, has anyone taken their state exam yet?

If so, how did it go????

I'm planning on taking the state on may 7th.... and I'm nervous... so I was wondering how it went for any of you that have taken it...

FlHopeful,

I'm taking my state test on Saturday. I'll post how it went that evening.

I just finished my Internship @ the VA Hospital yesterday; it was a wonderful experience! I cried many times and the residents "go home w. you" after your clinical rotations. Needless to say, I grew so attached to the resident's, that I am going to start volunteering there; I will be handing in my volunteer application next week right after I take my school's Pre-Test! After I pass the Pre-Test, then it's time to take State Boards! :yeah:

How did things turn out for you?

Yes I finished my cna course March 5, 2009, and took my state exam March 24, 2009 and passed. The test wasn't that bad I am in Tennessee so I don't know how it is in other states. I just got a job offer at the UT medical center! I am very exited about starting. I start April 27!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. I got into a Free HHA program yesterday sponsored by Partners in Care! Starts May 11Th 8AM-4:30PM Monday through Friday for 3 weeks. It's pretty neat because that certificate never expires, the agency has 1199 etc. and I can work as a HHA while I take my PCT ( Patient Care Technician: EKG & Phlebotomy course- which will end in August), then try and apply for a hospital job w. the following credentials.

a. PCT Certificate - Makes me worth $15-$20HR where I live.

b. CNA Certificate/ License: I'm still waiting to take State Boards, BTW - Makes me worth $13-$15 HR where I live.

c. HHA Certificate - Worth $8HR where I live.

d. CPR Certificate - Needed to work in Healthcare.

* If all goes well, I should be ready to apply for a CNA/PCT position by September of this year.

2. I was supposed to start my PCT course May 20Th. Do you guys think I will be able to take both classes, or should I start the PCT in June when the HHA is complete?

3. I got a chance to hand in my volunteer application for the VA Hospital yesterday as well; wouldn't mind working there. That's where I did my Internship and they have great benefits.

Next year, I start my LPN school application process.

Does anyone have any suggestions/ commentary?

Hey everyone! I start my class on Monday(04/20/09),I'm very excited. What do they normally start teaching first?

Thank you very much!!! I will let everyone know how it goes. I start next Monday and have like 6 days of orientation and classroom stuff. But thanks again and good luck with your classes!!!

II think you should focus on one at a time.. Spreading yourself out too thin could result in not giving your best.. have my finals tonite and had planned on starting my PCT on May 11th. But with not having set clinical dates or state board dates, I dont want to commit to something new without finishing up the CNA route COMPLETELY.. Know what I mean?

I agree!

So does that mean that we will both be beginning our PCT training, in June? If all goes as planned..

I haven't even busted the nerve to take my clinical Pre-Test. I got a 90% on my written Pre-Test.
