CNA's graduating in March-April!

Published

This thread is for those of us who are enrolled in a CNA course right now, and/OR will be certified between March and April. Here is where we rant, network, and/or brag about the way our course (s) are going, our experiences finding a job after our course/internship is completed, and what our plans are for the future (Nursing school, etc.).

We started this topic in another thread, lets keep this going! :heartbeat

Here is a little YouTube humor for all of us potential CNA's. A typical day in the life of a Certified Nursing Assistant :yeah::

Hi foreverlaur,

Thanks for your reply - I understand what you are concerned with and appreciate the sincerity in your message. I as well apologize if my comments seemed harsh. Best of luck to you on your state exam and keep us posted!

Hi everyone...Newbie here. My name is Kristina and I'm 25 years old and I'm a SAHM with a 5 year old and 3 year old. I've recently decided to look into CNA classes and I would like your opinion if you don't mind. The tuition is $697 up front but you can get that back after you are certified and start working..and I wanted to know if you think that's a little much? I obviously don't work and don't really have the money right now, and classes start March 16th, so needless to say I have to make up my mind soon lol. The classes are 3 weeks long from 5pm-11:30pm M-F and the first week I have to drive an hour to get there...and the thing is my son goes to preschool early in the morning. I know my dream is to become an RN and this would atleast help me get into the field to see what its all about. I'm so greatful to have found this particular thread and I hope to get to know all of you!

God Bless you all!

Welcome to our thread! I think that its a good price for the class. Most of the classes around here cost $900+. Do you know if there is a daytime class that you could get into though? Most of the people in my class are parents too & our class is from 8-2:30 so they can still take their kids to school & pick them up as well. I would call around to find a daytime program if that would fit your schedule better. Good luck :)

thanks so much for the welcome! yeah they do have morning classes but my husband works 6:30-3:30 and i still have my 3 year old that isn't in school yet to watch. i live about 2 hours away from my family and have absolutely no help with the kids. it kinda stinks living so far away from everyone i know...including friends and it gets pretty lonely lol, that's why i'm greatful for this website! i'm trying to find places that could train me there and not cost anything...but so far no luck. i really want to take this class but don't really have the money up front, but i'm afraid if i don't do it..i'll regret it. i live in the southern part of indiana if anyone knows of a good place. looking forward to getting to know everyone!

...If so, could someone tell me what to expect? Im 2 weeks away from starting my CNA course and already stressing about the clinicals LOL... This past weekend was my last "free" weekend before school.. I have 2 parties back to back in the coming weekends.. For those of you who dont know, one of my jobs is a Passion Party consultant (those interested in having one please feel free to send me a message).. Im thinking once I start school I will be swamped and not really have much free time... In any event, I'd love to hear from those already doing clinicals :)

You won't do clinicals until the very end (my class is 10 weeks long - 2 days a week). I started my class January 5 and our clinicals are March 7th and 8th from 7am - 330pm. They basically told us that we're going to do all the major skills we learned in class (like bed baths and feeding) on real patients. We will have multiple instructors there to help us out, watch, and guide us. There will also be the CNAs employed by the facility to help out too. The instructors told us that students really enjoy the clinicals and that is when they do most of their long-term learning.

I'm looking forward to it, but it is going to be a tough weekend! Clinicals from 7am - 330 pm and then I coach gymnastics 4pm - 9pm!!

That is a great question to ask. I picked my program over the others for two reasons

1. It was only $395

2. They did their clinicals at the top nursing home in the area

I did the same thing when I looked at nursing programs. I chose not to attend one particular nursing program because they refused to disclose where they did their clinical rotations at until you paid the application fee ($50) and paid to take the entrance test ($25) and were accepted. I thought it was shady that they were hiding their clinical sites because every other nursing program I inquired to offered that information upfront like they wanted to show off the quality of their clinical affiliations.

Nope I am in Ohio (born and raised). I am heading to Kent State University in the fall for my Accelerated BSN and I am currently at Columbus State Community College for my nurse aide course (which is an absolutely amazing CC in general).
