CNA hourly pay rate?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hello.

I'm trying to apply for this nursing home near my house.

but i'm not sure what to put for desired rate of pay.

so..

what is the average pay rate for starting cnas?

i looked up and they are giving me different rate.

thanks

I work in a hospital here in california and i started with no experience i make 12.50 a hour... ive been working there for 4 months now and i hope i get a raise soon O.o

I started with no experience at 11.00 an hour in CA. I've been there over a year now and we just got a raise--not because of experience, but to better meet what other places are paying. 11.75 now, and with the annual review raise if I get the max amount I'll barely be above 12.00. Count your lucky stars you started at 12.50, though I've heard a well known hospital closer to LA starts their aids at $19-$21 an hour. Super hard to get in though.

Specializes in PACU, LTC, Med-Surg, Telemetry, Psych.

In my area (New Orleans)

-Nursing Homes $6 to $9

-Hospitals $8 to $10

-Mental Wards $11 to $16

-Agency $11 to $15

-Home Health/ Hospice $10 to $15

Your mileage, as the above posters have put may vary as I

am deep in the south.

I live in Connecticut and I make $16.00/hr. I work at a hospital in New Haven.

I live in Niagara Falls, NY...0 experience (newly certified :dncgbby:) but i just hired at the hospital near my house, the hospital has a nursing home within it, I'm starting at $10.71/hour with a .38 shift diff. Got benes and all that good stuff, I'm just kindal disappointed because in about 3 months after I get off probation I'm going to put in a bid to get transferred to the hospital side(doing float shift in er,medi/surgi, and icu) and I just found out the starting is one .01 higher..but the hospital side offers 100% tuiton assistance for FT cna's so that made me pretty happy!

I will be starting a new job next month and will be paid. 11.50/hour in a small town in Indiana.

Specializes in CNA.

As a new CNA in oregon in 2004, I made 10/hr plus awesome benefits.

My friend in Arizona makes 14/hour in the pool position at banner.

I'm in Wisconsin and work in a hospital. I make 14.00 hourly, 3.30 for working NOCS, and 3.00 for working weekend program. So 20.30 an hour since I only work weekends.

I'm in Michigan, I've made up to 12/hr. While I heard that some hospitals start CNAs at 14/hr. It's very hard to get into those hospitals that pay that much

Hi, Ms. Nurse Assistant, I'm from Michigan also. Would like to know what was your starting pay with no experience?

Specializes in Pediatric Intensive Care, Long Term care.

depends a lot on where u stay. I live in cincinnati, ohio. and Ive never been paid less that 10.25/hr. And most places offer a night differential of a dolar

I FINALLY GOT A JOB!! :D

starting pay for mine was 9.50$. the lady said that she gave me .50$ extra.. O_O;

and 10$ with .50$ shift differential [chose job for 11-7]..

and 11$ for weekend with 1.50$ differential.

is that alot.. or should i have expected more? O_O;

cuz when the lady said 10 for starting pay.. i was so happy until she looked at some paper and goes.. "oh it says 9.50" lol O_o;

I started out at my first job making a little less than $8/hour.

I made 9.25 at my second job and 10.50 at my third.

I'm currently making 11.70 on weekdays and 12.70 on weekends.

So, as you can see, it varies greatly!

To the above poster, that seems like a pretty good rate for your first CNA job, congratulations! Keep in mind that on paperwork, it will list your base rate and NOT what you get with shift and/or weekend differential. :)

Indeed, on my first job pre-Certification test I made 7.50 which went to 8 after the test. A year later it went to 10.

Next couple of homes (PT, PRN) positions varied between 10 and 15. Currently making a tad over 17 full time in VA.

Your starting pay is on par with what you can expect to get at most places. It seems to vary between 6/7ish to 14/15ish.
