Does anyone know of anything I will need in my CNA course? I dont know if I will have to wear scrubs for the clinical part or not. Any input would be much appreciated.

When I did it they had uniforms and they required a watch. they provided everything else but you might want to get your own steth and bp. :)

You think? .....Pretty soon they'll tell us what kind of panty's to wear :rotfl:
My CNA instructor actually told us, because we has to wear all white scrubs, that she strongly suggested that we wear a thong because you could see through the pants and she did not want to see Mickey Mouse jumping around!! I would rather wear my white Granny Panties then have everyone see my thong, but my shirt covered my bottom anyway.
As for what to prepare for, get a stethoscope. Even the ones the school provides you are not the best and often hard to hear out of. I also bought a cuff so I could practice my BP's on everyone. GOOD LUCK!! and most importantly have FUN :chuckle

Call around and see what various schools want. There's one school around here that has their own scrubs and is included in the cost of the class. Another has you buy your own scrubs, which is good because I'd be concerned about the quality of scrubs you'd get with a set you'd get when you paid for the class.
Some schools want you to buy your own stethoscope, others will provide it.
The class that I eventually settled on includes hands-on training, a hospital clinical, CPR for the healthcare provider plus AED training, all for the price of $495 cash, $510 check, credit card. I thought this was a great deal. It's run by RN's who have A LOT of ortho experience at a great hospital here. My mom has actually worked with a few of them and she said that they are natural teachers. With this class you get dual certification, CNA (once you sit for the exam) and Home Health Care Aide.
There was another class that was $575, cash only. They did provide the scrubs, but they didn't have a clincal to wear them to, and I'd be concerned about the quality. I think it's kind of useless to get a pair of scrubs for no use other than a two week class that doesn't have a clinical. Someone told me that this other class was not hands-on, they used videos. And they did not include the CPR certification. Last I checked, most facilities required their CNA's to have CPR. It would cost an additional $60 to obtain CPR certification from the Red Cross.
To me, hands down this was the place to go. I'm looking forward to the class. I've just signed up for the August 29th class! This is so exciting for me. This is my first step to becoming an RN, and this is what I've wanted to do my whole life!! :)

Sounds funny, but that's happened to me and my husband! The nursing home we worked at told us we had to wear white underwear, with no color on the band.. because it was regulation to wear white scrub bottoms. There's no limit I guess! :chuckle

Well I just called. I need a gait belt which the LTC gives me. I also need hunter green pants that is the color I will always wear and just any top the coordinates with that hunter green pants. I also need white non slip shoes. Guess I will go shopping this weekend for shoes.
Garsh I have been looking at scrubs on ebay and there are not many that will go with hunter green. I think I will buy my first few from an actual store till i get used to what can go with them and stuff. I am sooo excited to be starting my career finally. My main goal is to have my RN by the time I am 35. I will be 28 September 3rd so I think its extremely feasible. Here is to school again and hoping I can no WILL do this...
