Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!

I love this. I'm 30, married and have two toddlers. I work full time and just finished my last pre-req while also doing a weekend CNA program that lasted the course of my last semester. I take my CNA test Saturday! I'm actually applying to the nursing program tomorrow in Sonora, CA. Wish me luck!

I'm over 40. They accepted English I & II, and statistics taken over 20 years ago.

I got a B in all of them. They said it wasn't worth retaking it for the point system.

A little bummed because I wanted a 4.0 for nurse school.

On the plus side It's saving me $828 a class in out of state tuition.

Taking psychology I over summer & CNA class.

Hope to be accepted fall 2014.

@DT70 What program are you applying to? What state are you in? I have to CLEP Eng comp I & II because they are more then 10 yrs old.

@~Melissa~ awesome choice my goal is to become a neonatal nurse practitioner.

@Tally4950 where is your school? This sounds awesome it would be the ideal schedule for me

Awesome thread!!

I'll be 32 in the fall, and the fall semester will be my last semester of pre-requisites. (Yay!!!!). I'll be taking micro and A&PII. This summer I am getting my CNA (requirement for my program, must be a licensed CNA on the state registry prior to applying) and will work as a CNA as long as I can. I'll be applying to my program in the fall, and if accepted, it begins the following fall. I plan on doing a RN-BSN program as soon as school is done, so during that waiting year, I'll do prerequisites for that. Might as well keep the old brain working!!! I'm excited, nervous, and determined. I struggled a bit in A&PI-- the instructor didn't cover a lot of things because I had a classmate who knew everything about everything and would often chime in, totally derailing the class. She skipped over a lot of info, and our exams covered four to six units at a time. She said our notes would be our study guides, but that didn't work out so well, because there was so much on our exams she just never covered. Oh well. That will be my only not fantastic grade through all of this. (I got a C. So heartbreaking.)

Anyway, I have two children and a fantastic husband. I'm excited to finally be doing something to make a difference in the world!!

Im 41 and just finished my prerequisites. Ive appled to the local programs keep your fingers crossed.

I am 31, and I'm a single mom to an 11-year-old boy. I have finished my pre-reqs for the LPN program that I will start in the fall. This summer I am taking Microbiology and an intro to computers class because they are pre-reqs for the LPN-RN transition program I will apply to after I finish my LPN program. I'm really excited and nervous about the future, but I'm looking forward to it.

Lots of love and positivity on your nursing journeys.

Im 36 with a 1 1/2 year old!! I have my degree in animal science ( I am an animal nurse:) ). Some of my pre reqs transferred. I am taking bio and chem over again in the summer to pass the hesi exam. Next week I start human development. Hoping to get into nursing school next year! I just hope I make it!!

Everyone here is so inspiring...I, too am heading into a new career direction. I have been a formal education science teacher and working in informal education for the last 17. I applied last fall and was accepted into a entry level masters program for this fall...was so excited!!! But...alas God had a different plan...found out I was pregnant in February (I'm a statistical anomaly for IUD users ;)) So alas, I must defer another year to fall 2014. I'll be 41 when I start and I can't wait !!! Congrats to all for their hard work and dedication!!
