Clogs <dansko?>

Published

A co-worker of mine has the greatest shoes..she says they are Dansko and the most comfy she has ever had. OK, I'm sold.

Hers are pink, with a pearlescent look ..I've searched eerything I can think of but can't find them.

Do these shoes sound familiar to anyone? I guess it really doesn't matter if they are actually Dansko or not I'd really like to find some shoes with color (maybe to match my scrubs???) I am SO very tired of "white" shoes. i love my reebox DMX walkers, but if there is something BETTER I'm all for it!

Thanks

Sandy

I had Klogs brand shoes with the open back and after the first night I never wore them again. I found that they stretched out and sometimes I'd be walking fast and walk right out of them. Wasn't until after I got off my 12 hour shift that I realized I was curling my toes to keep them on when I was busy...OH my feet were sore that nite.

Since then I've changed to Land's End All weather mocs with the closed back. They are great! And not too bad looking either.

I really love my Dansko clogs, but they take a bit of time to get used to, so I understand that the first couple of shifts might be disappointing, but once you get used to them they are like coming home.

I too had heard wonderful things about Dansko clogs, especially from the docs at work - many of them got those Dansko closed-back Professional shoes during their residencies and were able to do 36 hour calls without their feet and backs hurting.

So I bought a pair of the Professionals and after an hour and a half, I threw them back into my locker. I had twisted my ankle 3 times and fallen once already! The problem is both that they are made to slip off your heel, so you feel like you're wearing an open-backed clog, and also that the higher heel tapers at the bottom, so it's very easy to twist your ankle inwards with the curve of the sole. Luckily I was able to return them.

Then I noticed the Golden Gate line on the Dansko website, and they have two styles that come in white. They have a much wider sole that is actually wider than the shoe, so it much less likely that you'll twist your ankle. I just got mine and have only worn them around the house so far as I don't work again until Thursday, but they seem perfect. I got the Jocelyn, which is a slip on, but they also have the Jette, which is a lace-up. Your heel is still supposed to slip out a little bit, but with the wider sole it feels much more secure.

I bought a pair of Dansko's in Sept 2002 after recommendations from colleagues who RAVED about them! Spent $115. I HATE THEM! They're ok for me to wear outside of work. But my feet would hurt bad after an 8 or 12 hr shift.

To everyone who said they broke a foot or ankle wearing Danskos...

I was just about to buy some, I have heard how comfy they are and I also have back problems. Did anyone break or twist their ankle in the kind with closed backs? I hope this only happened in the true clog-style, the ones without backs, because I really wanted some! I do have to run quite often on my floor, and up until now mostly have worn sneakers. Sg

I had the closed back ones (the Professional) and, like I said above, I twisted my ankle multiple times and fell once in 90 minutes of wearing them! The problem is that the closed back clogs are only for "show" - they are for heel protection, but they make them SPECIFICALLY to feel like an open clog - when you buy them, they make sure that your heel slips up and down with each step.

Try the link I posted previously in this thread - I recently bought from the Dansko Golden Gate line and these are much better. One is a lace up, the other is a slip-on. But they are NOT clogs, and the bottoms are wide and stable. Part of the problem with the open and closed back clogs they sell is that the sole kind of tapers from the heel to the floor, so it's really easy to wobble.

I can walk better in 3 inch high heels than I could in those clogs!

Wow! These shoes are terrific! Thanks, Larlar for mentioning Lands End. I checked out their leather service mocs (a mere 29.50) - just got them in the mail today and they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I've worn, bar none.

I too twisted my ankles in the closed back Dansko clogs. They were comfotable for a couple months, but not worth the price. Now I am wearing Timberland clogs which have great arch support and were on clearance at my local DSW shoe store. I will never go back to Dansko. Lands End sounds interesting, I will have to check them out!
