hey guys! I was wondering if anyone has gone through the Cleveland Clinic nurse residency program. I have accepted a position there and am due to start this summer. Are there any facebook groups or any resources to help me connect with individuals starting out there as well? Also, if you happen to work at the CC, how do you like working there?
This might be a long shot of a question d/t how specific it is, but I thought I'd at least ask!

Hi Nursing2019! I've been with the clinic for a few years now and I love it. I don't know much about the nurse residency program as i am just a medical assistant so I cant give you an opinion on that specifically. I can tell you that almost all of my coworkers are awesome supportive people that i am lucky to work with. The cleveland clinic does have some of issuses as does anywhere such as office politics or communication. CC also has a lot of really good programs and benefits that people don't know about or utilize often. Anyways welcome to the CC family and good luck ?

Thanks so much for the response! You are not "just a medical assistant"--trust me, your job is very important AND I guarantee you have more knowledge than I do as a new grad. I can't wait to start working there!! I'm glad to hear you have been working here for a couple years. I'm scared I'll get burnt out quick since it's such a large and fast-paced hospital.

I went through the Residency program back when they were piloting it over 6 years ago. It's much different now from what I hear. Left working there after 2.5 years.

@Nursing2019BSN I was just perusing various topics, and it seems your exact question from a few months ago was asked by many (for various years), but has never been answered. If you're still around, could you answer and tell the rest of us, how you like it, starting salary, are you locked into a certain time to stay there, how long is orientation, etc.. I'm sure other people wanting to apply there in the future would appreciate any input from somebody who is going through this residency.
they start the residents at 27.50. You have to stay for 2 years on your floor before you can make an internal switch! Orientation is 10-13 weeks depending on if you're in the ICU or med-surg!!

@Nursing2019BSN I was just recently hired to start in the CICU new grad program in August! Since you started as a new grad, can you tell me what you thought of the program? Also, I am an out of state applicant so I am looking to connect with other new grads or current RNs for housing. Did you ever find a way to connect with other employees or have recommendations on affordable places to live?

I worked there for 2.5 years. It has it's ups and downs. It really depends what you want to do long term.
@OUxPhys thanks for the reply! Could you go into more detail about what you mean by "ups and downs"?

It's probably the same as the other residencies. Id imagine you would bounce around between the different floors to get some experience on each before being on your own.
