CLC Students...when can I expect a letter?

Just wondering...I know when I applied for the Fall semester I got my letter saying I didn't get in around late March/early April. I am guessing for Spring 2008, with the cutoff being the first Wednesday in September I should expect it sometime in October/November? Anyone know?

I was told the cut off for spring was November, not sure what date exactly. good luck!

My acceptance letter was dated November 6th but supposedly those were lated coming out. What was your NLN score again? Weren't you supposed to take it again in August (coming up???).

Ok, I figured we would have to get something before enrollment began for the Spring semester (which I think is normally in the second week of November?). I was just curious.

I got an 85% and yes, I am taking it again!! August 28!! I just want a little bit of a higher score, but if not, 85% will have to do for now! And if I don't get in for Spring, I just have to try again for Fall. But praying I get in for spring!

i remember last year when i was waiting for my letter, it seemed to take forever! they told me it was going to be like the beginning of october or something, but then they were a lot later. i have my letter in front of me and it's dated november 6 of last year, so you'll probably get it around that time this year.

good luck to all of you!!!;)

hi, what should i expect at the orientation august 6th?

I remember orientation being a LONG day! We were the first group that they started mandating the drug testing for, and I was nervous about having "performance anxiety," lol, so I drank TONS of water and then they didn't do that part of it until the end of the day, so my advice on that is not to go into overkill, he he he!

You should bring the nursing handbook with you and there will be things they'll have you sign in there. They explain each one. Also, it was just a whole lot of introductory stuff. I don't really remember very specific stuff. I know they explain the performance evaluation (a horrible test at the end of the semester that is hopefully on its way out!), and they explain the way they do the classes and the testing. A lot of the way the nursing program is run is different than most classes. They give you a lot of time to ask questions. The health requirements like vaccines, physicals and stuff is reviewed, to make sure you all know what you need to do before clinicals begin... That's all I can think of right now about it. If I think of anything else, I'll let ya know!

Oh, here are a couple more questions!!

Vaccines, are those covered under medical insurance or how does that work?

How much will it cost you for books the first semester? And after that, do you get new books with every semester or do you use mostly the same books throughout?

Thanks for everyones help!!! I love this board!

Vaccines may or may not be covered under your own insurance. You need to check your plan. Mine did cover it. The school does offer a lot of the required "stuff," though, and generally cheaper than a doctor's office if you don't have insurance. If you stop in at the health center, they have a price list. They offer vaccines, urinalysis, TB test and the CBC. The only thing they don't offer is the physical, because they don't have any nurse practitioners.

As far as books go, the first semester will definitely be your most expensive because you do use a lot of them throughout the I am a big fan of Ebay and other online sources for books myself. I would definitely buy the Potter and Perry book and modules first, and then wait until the first day when you can talk to the teachers about exactly what you will need and when so you can space out the rest a little bit. You don't need them all at once, and don't go by what the bookstore said because it was totally wrong!

Good luck!

I have found that to be true with many classes!!!

Thanks so much for the info. I'll have to talk to my insurance company and see what they say. I am pretty sure it said vaccines are covered, but you never know what that actually means!! :lol2:

No problem! If you need anything else, let me know!

Bummer...my insurance doesn't cover it!!! I'm surprised they don't considering I work for a very large pharma company! Oh well. I at least get the Physical covered at 100%, so the vaccines I'll get what I can through CLC and then figure out the rest!!! That just bites!
