Clayton State Nursing Program Spring 2012

Published

Hey! I am just starting this forum to see who else is applying for Clayon State's Spring 2012 BSN Program. I just applied and now the waiting begins..

I will def let you know what I find out. I did get my CPR cert last Dec, but I may have to do an update this Dec. I also have began my Hep B vaccination, I am already past due on my second shot.

It looks like the way they have the classes posted for spring that we will have to have a 5 day M-F week, I was told it would be a 4 day, with one off,,,,,,Oh well.

Ok thank you! I am probably going to get my CPR certification next week to get it out of the way.. did your class last about 4 hours? Because my interviewer said they are 8 hours long but the ones I found are only four. Its the BLS certificate through the American Heart Association right? And yeah I made a sample schedule and mine is also M-F. There is also a Saturday class..but nobody will want that one! I heard that we have to get this dosage calc book before the semester starts because that test will be 2 weeks into the first semester!!

My class was about 4 hrs, also through the AHA at my local hospital. Yeah, I do not care to have a Sat class. I hope to either focus completely on school throughout the week, and breathe on Sat/Sun (maybe a little review), or having some down time each evening with daily studying 7 days a week. I am married and have a 2 year old, so I am hoping to have SOME time for them somewhere.

Which side of town do you live on? Do you hope to get clinical work close to your home?

Yeah I know what you mean.. i am going to have to set aside time to spend with my boyfriend and friends because otherwise id go crazy without a social life!! haha but im sure its going to require A TON more studying than im used to (im a crammer) lol so that will take some getting used to for me! I live in Dunwoody..so Northside is close to me.. or any atlanta hospital really! I want to try out more than one to see which one I might want to work @ in the future:)! How about you?

Hey Steph6543,

It was nice talking to you today. The Gerontology professor's name is Lillian Parker. Rate my professor does not give her good reviews but so far she is a God send for me!! I have a friend that just started GA State's nursing program this fall and she has no time for her son. Maybe an hour here or an hour there. But she spends all of her free time if you can call it that reading/studying. She is divorced so when he is with his dad during the week, she can get more done. My interviewer told me to place a picture of myself on the frig. door so that my family can remember what I look like. lol

Had my interview today and it went super well! I cant wait to meet you all..... I think we will make up a good class!!!

I am happy for you. I hope we all get in. Please tell if your interviewer gave you any inside information!! lol

Lol, she didn't tell me anything that we don't already know.

It was nice to meet you todaay too! I had no idea we had a class together haha! But yeah my friend is also in gsus ace trac this semester n she says it takes up so mch time! I hope it won't be as demanding as people say but either way it'll be worth it :)! O and my advisor told me today letters will be out nxt week!!

WOW!! I am exicted and nervous. Maybe your friend and my friend know each other. lol My friend said when she first started the program, she thought, this is easy but she said she soon found out that you can quickly get behind. She said its a ton of reading. She is a crams too but is finding out that its just too much infomation to cram. You will be fine. Did your advisor give you any clue if you were in?

Specializes in ICU Surgical Trauma.

Hey I see some of you talking about the readings and the average amount of reading is 8-12 chapters a week for all classes. So that is about 2 chapters of reading a day. However, this is for first semester not sure about HIT 2. Also, don't forget about other assignments that needs to be completed.
