Clayton State Fall 2011

Published

Just thought I would get a forum started as we await the decision. Everyone feel free to post your overall GPA, math and Science GPA, and TEAS scores. Also why you want to be a nurse and what specialty you would like to work in?

Overall GPA 3.38

M&S GPA 3.4

TEAS 80.7

I originally wanted to be an OB/GYN, but then I got pregnant and decided I would just become an account (math is my favorite subject). After my stay in the hospital (labor/delivery & postpartum) I decided I can still be in the hospital setting if I become a nurse. I want to be an OB/GYN nurse.:heartbeat I eventually want to become a certified nurse midwife. :D

Please weigh in Clayton State Applicants!

I was saying for the approved elective you need that is also apart of your pre-reqs

I know you have to have interactive communications and yes Womens Health is an approved elective, but you can take those while you are in the nursing program. The one you have to have before you enter the program is Patho.

no...not for that....another elective. I took Stats for area D2 so i have too take an approved elective for area F! http://nursing.clayton.edu/prerequisites.htm

Oh I see now what you are saying. I took intro to marriage for that section F

OMG!!! That's sounds great...especially since I'm a newlywed!!! But it will interfere with my Patho schedule!

Honestly the class sucked! His tests were hard and you had to study like it was like a biology class. I learned nothing! His tests were hard too, this class should have never been this way. If I was you I would ask your advisor if there is any online electives to take, if this is the only class that is offered then you have to take it but really it sucked! My honest opinion! I ended up with a B in that class when it should have been a easy A.

You will learn nothing in my opinion.

Wow! Well I'm glad I know now...I will look for online classes. Are those the eCore classes?

Does anyone know how long clinical last on Tuesday and Wednesday?

Online classes from what I have done are on Ga View. I dont know much about eCore classes.

When do you meet with your advisor? Are you just doing patho and finish your F part?

have you taken any nursing electives yet?

ARe you talking about clinicals when you are in the nursing program? I believe they do 12 hour shifts, but I can ask my friend to be sure, I remember when she 1st started she was at a nursing home for like 6 hours, but not sure now, I will ask.

I have not taken any nursing electives yet. I plan to take 3 next summer. I wanted to take 3 classes this summer (Patho, Area F elective, and Interactive Communications) but I'm I heard Patho is challenging and we will need it throughout nursing school so I don't want anything to get in the way of me studying for it. So I will just be doing all 16 hours this fall then the other electives I will be taking next summer..so I will only have 12 hours for the remainder of the nursing program. I was thinking 6 hours for clinical...because previous students said we should be finished every day by 3pm. Back to the online classes...so when I go to Class schedule to look up classes how do I sort out the online classes from the others?

Go ahead and get interactive communications out of the way, you have to do a lot of reading and her tests are hard, so read and you will do fine. Patho is great, I loved this class, I had Ms. Walsh and she was wonderful, she taped all her lectures and if you go to class she will send them to you. You dont need the book for that class, what she lectures is what she tests on. I spent alot of time on that class, I would download her lectures and listen to them while I would drive to work.

Usually online courses dont show a date and time, they are usually blank, look up cultural diversity and you will see what I mean. This is a good class too.

Mrs. Lewis, I took World Religions online at GPC and Clayton counted it as my F5 elective. It was super easy and I actually enjoyed it.
