Clayton State Fall 2011

Published

Just thought I would get a forum started as we await the decision. Everyone feel free to post your overall GPA, math and Science GPA, and TEAS scores. Also why you want to be a nurse and what specialty you would like to work in?

Overall GPA 3.38

M&S GPA 3.4

TEAS 80.7

I originally wanted to be an OB/GYN, but then I got pregnant and decided I would just become an account (math is my favorite subject). After my stay in the hospital (labor/delivery & postpartum) I decided I can still be in the hospital setting if I become a nurse. I want to be an OB/GYN nurse.:heartbeat I eventually want to become a certified nurse midwife. :D

Oh wow! I think youre right! I didny think of it that way but thats what it seems like to me.

How was Everyone's interviews today?

Anyone get any insight on how many they are interviewing?

My interviewer told me they pick around 60 and I spoke with another girl and she was told this time it was 58.

Also I was told we should know in a couple of weeks

58!!! Are you serious..my interviewer told me 60..I guess it's only two people but still. UGH!

Yea thanks to whoever fail this semester...they take away our seats for fall!

What? how? why?

I think they are interviewing all this week and the committee will meet next week and decide.

Hopefully we will hear something the 1st week in April. I have talked to past students and they heard like within a week or so. I am sure they will have to get the ball rolling since they have to get all our updated shots, CPR certifications, health insurance stuff etc. This waiting is worse then the wait to get a call or letter.

What? We have to be CPR certified before we start and get more shots? Do we have to have health insurance?

Yes we have to get health insurance and to get it through the college it's like over $1000 a year...you will find all that out during the interview. I hate shots...ugh! Which will we have to get...I just got the one for whooping cough in October..after I gave birth to my daughter. I figured we would have to do the CPR certification. When will we be doing all of this?

No we need the cpr cert before clinicals. Lets wait until we get letters...lol

Hmmmm, I may need to get a quickie marriage so that I can get on my boyfriend's insurance if the schools costs that much, lol. Shots aren't a problem to me, I'm pretty sure I'm up to date on everything but now that I'm thinking about I think I read something about having to get a hepatitis vaccination, I don't have that yet. Do they have classes for CPR training at the school? I wouldn't even know where to get that. Guess it's time to start researching.

If you are not caught up on your shots you wouldn't have been able to apply to the program...so I think we will be getting different ones.

You usually do the CPR course with the American heart association like 50 bucks

If you already have health ins you just have to show proof

You have to have your hep b and chicken pox or show a tired for it and be checked for TB

I have a friend in the program already and this is what I remember she said
