Class of 2015

Published

Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

Ill start in jan 2014 for rn

We've had our first week of classes. So far, so good. I like my professors for the most part. One of them is brand new to the school, which is hard because she teaches fundamentals, and it feels like we are all muddling through together, rather than her being a clear/consistent voice.

I'm begin a part-time ADN program on Sept 30th and I'm so nervous! My orientation is the 25th and it's from 9am-5pm... I will also be working full-time, I have a 3 yr old to take care of and not much help around. I know I can make it through. I'm so excited to better our lives!

Specializes in Hospitalist Medicine.

Passed my 1st nursing school exam...yay!!! I was so nervous about that first test. What a relief to have it over with and know what to expect next time.

Specializes in NICU( RN), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Class of 2015 here as well! Just found out today. I start 10/03 San Antonio,Texas. Super excited, I've been an LVN for 7 months, now onto RN! ADN program-Galen CON, Orientation 09/26.

Hey everybody, just checking in! How is your semester going?

I'm liking things so far and doing very well. I'm a bit stressed out by my fundamentals skill lab; I really don't think we are learning all that much about how to do the skills. The professor doesn't give us very much guidance and then we really don't practice the skills, we just sort of "fake" them once and that's it. She's new to the school and teaching, so I think she's getting her footing. My fiance is in the afternoon lab and I think their lab is much better after she practices on us. I feel like I got the short end of the stick and it's kind of bumming me out.

Totally excited about the fact that I just got my confirmation email that I got moved up in my nursing program and will be starting in the spring of 2014 and graduating in fall of 2015. Today it finally hit me that I am so close to becoming a nurse. Congrats to the rest of you guys too
congrats! Same thing happened to me and I'm so pumped!!!!! It's coming fast!

I am so thankful that I just got accepted to my BSN program for spring! I graduate August 2015.

sweet! I was offered a spot for BSN at csueb but I wasn't able to move within a month so I stayed with rn program in town ... Happy and bummed at same time.

I have been passing my exams and skills validations! a lil over halfway through the semester. WOW!
