Class of 2006

Nursing Students General Students

Hey yall!

Just wondering if there are any of us out there still working on pre-reqs - hopeful nursing graduates of 2006?

Roll call! :)

I'm the 26yo mama of two boys (5yrs and 18mos). I work FT right now and am taking my pre-reqs at night. Hoping to get into a BSN program and start my nursing core/clinicals in fall 2004!

Algebra and Trig together is the same as pre-calc.. its a hard class.

Anyone else on a quarter system?

Nope, semesters here. Wow - you have to have organic chem for your BSN program? I'm planning on taking it next summer, but it's not a pre-req.

Does your NA class last a whole semester?

Yep...the whole quarter (10 weeks). First 7 weeks are in lecture/lab settings & the last 3 weeks are in a clinical setting (nursing home). I'm taking the class on Saturdays for the whole 10 weeks and it runs from 8am-4:30pm for the first 7 weeks & then 7:30am-4pm during clinicals. It'll make for a long day, but if I was taking it during the week, I'd be driving out to school 4 nights a week...this way, it's only 2 nights & saturday.

Manna,

I guess you are right it is more than a week away!!!! I"m not sure if that mistakes comes from my being that excited to get started or from my being so tired from family/school/work. lol

Manna,

I was an early childhood education major before I decided on becoming a nurse.

I just ordered my books from Amazon.com - the total came to $212.04 - Ouch! But I did go ahead and order used copies of some things off my wishlist (including 2 of Echo Heron's books). I'm a book junkie, and my amazon wishlist is still HUGE!

Now I just have to go down to the school and buy my chem books ($155 more) and I'll be all set for fall. Can't wait! :)

Thats not too bad for all those classes you have Manna

No - it's really not. Most of my textbooks this semester were surprisingly cheap. I think the most expensive one was $65 or so + shipping.

Just when you're pinching pennies and having to wait months on a fin aid refund.. $200 seems like a lot of money! LOL

Yeah I hear ya on that. I screwed up my schools this semester so I cant get aid, but maybe next semester?? ;)

They're still "processing" mine - for some dumb reason, I get picked every year for verification and have to fill out all this extra paperwork, submit copies of my taxes.. and I do mean EVERY year I've been in school. Very frustrating - I guess they look at my file and say, "she can't possibly be living on that little money, we'd better double check to be sure!" LOL

Thanks Agent...

Come on 2006 hopeful's - give us an update. :)

I went and bought my chem book last night, and got my FA processed. I ended up with a grant enough to cover my tuition, books and some left over coming back to me in December... oh well, better late than never! :)

Don't get me started on the hellish time I had with the school last night, though! UGH :(

Today was my son's first day of kindergarten. I'm so proud. :)
