Hello! I thought I could start this thread to gather as many CCC nursing students who were just accepted into the program. I figured we could share our stories and get ready for our world as nursing students at Clackamas! Congrats to everyone and let's begin this journey! I am so excited!
I just heard a couple days ago that I was accepted from the wait list to CCC! I am so excited! I had planned on Winter at MHCC but held out for CCC and am happy I did. Can't wait to meet everyone at orientation. I feel CCC has a truly unique program based on what I have experienced so far. I feel like the faculty are devoted to the success of each student in a major way and I love the vibe I get from CCC. I hope more people get in that are on the wait list.
Who is excited about orientation? I'm still on the waitlist. But, I'm excited :-) Totally hoping that I hear something about being accepted off the waitlist following orientation. Also just excited to hear more about the program and all the requirements that have to be met over the summer.
I have been counting down the days!!! I am still trying to figure out how much I will be able to work while I am in the program and I feel like after Wednesday I will have a better idea what the schedule will be like. I am so excited to meet everyone and just get a better idea of what things will be like...Hang in there all on the wait list-I hope you guys get moved off it like I did.
Has anyone else been watching nursing school youtube videos? I have been glued to the computer way more than usual just trying to get a better idea of what to expect.
I am also so excited for this Wednesday. I am ready to meet everyone! I think you probably have a good chance since you were invited to the orientation, I feel like not many were invited back!
It'll be interesting to see if any of the folks that I sat for the group interview with attend the orientation. I thought they were pretty much all stellar interviewers ;-)
Thanks so much for the kind words about me getting in, @alewis513. It's feels so tough to have that same optimism from this side of the fence. Still crossing my fingers, but, I feel like it's a long shot still because it seemed like everyone who got accepted to CCC accepted their spots! With the exception of like 2 or 3 folks, anyway.
Ugh - I just want to fast forward to Wednesday!

@BRW85...I would be anxious about that aspect too if I needed to work. My husband and I have been going over our budget to see where we can cut back so I don't have to work while in school. It's going to be tight, but, I guess we'll do what we have to do. You know? Just like you with working. Either way, I'm sure you'll make it work!
PS - what videos are you referring to?!?! I'm interested in watching some as well! Anything I can learn is always a plus ;-)
Born4This: Here is a good example of the types of videos that are out there
This particular woman has many videos plus others will pop up on the side bar next to what you are watching. Some advice people have is common sense and I do some fast forwarding but there are definitely good tips out there. One piece of advice I keep hearing is to get used to doing "check all that apply" test questions. So I think this summer when I am reviewing A & P I am going to try to make up some questions for myself like that. Also buying an NCLEX prep book just to get a taste of what is to come and get some insight into testing style. I hope you find this helpful.
I'm happy you and your husband are able to find a way to make it work financially with you not working. I have to work 24 hours to maintain benefits at work but I don't think that is realistic. I am going to try to aim for 8-16 hours a week which isn't much but it will help a little. The tough thing is that my husband is starting a full time Master's teaching program that lasts one year(starts in summer) so we have to get loans for him and for me. I don't qualify for grants but am definitely starting the hunt for scholarships. It is just scary taking so much out in loans but I know it will be worth it in the end. Luckily my husband had GI bill for his Bachelor's so it is my schooling that will cost the most. I am thankful for the community college price tag.

@BRW85...thank you so much providing a link to Robin's videos!! They're so informative, and, I am totally feeling pumped up for nursing school following watching a few of them :-) Now all I need is to get into one! ha
Re your hubby...my hubbs is a Navy vet! He's currently going to school on his GI bill. We're in the same boat in terms of us wracking up school debt. But I always say...takes money to make money. So I'm investing in myself now and will hopefully see a return later!
Born4This-I'm glad you like the videos. They do help to pump you up! I love her outlook on school-she is just so thankful to get the chance and seems to have a balanced approach to school, home, etc. Plus her whole attitude of trying to enjoy the process. I think that will be so important for all of us to remember.I really hope you get in and I think you have an excellent chance. I am glad your husband is making use of the GI bill-good luck to him in school! I agree with you on it taking money to make money. I hope it will all work out. Only one more day to get through until orientation!!!!
She's really sweet. I think she's just adorable and I will totally take some of her advice if I get into school.
PS - I just found out from a friend (she's a nurse) that a CNA she works with just got into the program off the waitlist. So, it's still moving...but, I'm afraid they're going to fill all the spots before they get to me :-( Just can't wait to get to orientation...crossing my fingers and my toes that someone doesn't show up and I hear something then!
Oh, and good luck to your husband too! Masters. Huh? That's amazing!
