Hello! I thought I could start this thread to gather as many CCC nursing students who were just accepted into the program. I figured we could share our stories and get ready for our world as nursing students at Clackamas! Congrats to everyone and let's begin this journey! I am so excited!
It's so funny how other people can look on the bright side of a situation...but when you're in it, it's so hard to do that. But, I really appreciate all the support and positive thoughts @BRW85. You're right - I could totally be next on the list. I hope I am!
Cant believe orientation is just one day away - just can't wait to meet everyone and hear all about what's in store for me (hopefully, ha).
On another note...is everyone showing up in street clothes? Or are you dressing up?
@alewis513...saw your post on the other thread, but, ill answer you here since this is specific to CCC's orientation.
You might've saw me today - I was the only black person in the room! ha I sat front row, toward the windows. I asked the question "if there was anything in your personal or professional life during your first year that you would do different, what would that be?". I did look around the room for familiar faces, and, I did notice a gentlemen who was in my essay/interview group (he got accepted off the waitlist) and I also met (for the second time!) @BRW85!! Her and I spoke after the PCC essay since we both took it at the same time :-)
From my POV, today just instilled an even bigger fire in my heart for CCC's program. I'd been fighting the feelings I was having about wanting to go there after the interview because it was so great - but, my allegiance was to PCC because I've taken all my pre-reqs there, I know the campus, and it's close to home. But today confirmed what I've known for a while and that's that I want to go to CCC. Loved the students and their honesty and candidness, love that the program's focus is on teaching us how to take care of people and NOT to pass the NCLEX. Everything F**** said about why she chose CCC over the other school she was interested in is dead on. I just get amazing vibes in general from the faculty and the students and I NEED to go there!!!
All that said, I feel like my chances aren't super good because most everyone I know that got accepted to CCC and other schools is going to accept their spot at CCC. However, there were 60 people that were supposed to come today...40 accepted and 20 waitlisted. There was a clipboard with all our names on it, so naturally I counted them. ha Of the 60 people on the list, 11 folks didn't show up or didn't initial. If you don't initial, you're off the list. Crossing my fingers that those 11 people are really off-off the list and that I either get an email in the next week or that some of those people were waitlisted and I at least move up on that list.
I saw you! I was the bigger woman in the third row I think. I didn't talk so you may not have noticed me. I really loved it too. Loved the staff, loved the students. I talked outside for a little too and really liked the folks all together! I didn't hear of many waitlisters there. I think that's a good sign! The lady next to me was on wait list but other than her and you I didn't talk to anyone else that were... Wonder how many were there?
Born4This, I sat near you tonight.
I was speaking to another student, who said that she was leaning toward PCC--it is very close to her home. (that's one!)
Another encouraging example is another person that I know got the call to join the cohort last year in September. So keep your phone near!
BTW I love that you counted the list...hang in there...lots of things will happen...

I was kinda hard to miss, huh? hehe I definitely looked around quite a bit, so, I may have seen you. But, not sure which woman you were. I talked a lot to people inside the meeting room...I knew, personally, 2 other folks who were there who were waitlisted. In theory, if 60 people were on that list and 40 got into the program, the other 20 on that list were waitlisted. only 49 of us showed (if that list is accurate) and those 11 that didn't could be accepted folks or waitlisted folks. So, it's hard to know how many there were.

Oh yay Althaea! Hope that person you spoke with does pick PCC. One step closer, right? Thanks for the support and for the encouragement. I will definitely be checking my email incessantly, heh
PS - of course I counted the list! It was to tempting not to

Born4This- That is so exciting! For all you know you could be next up. This is promising because you at least know of 2 people-me and the CNA who have been moved off the wait list in the last 2 weeks. I hope you are next to hear! Like you said-someone could not show up to the orientation. I know I was paranoid I would be late so I took the whole day off work Wednesday ha ha.
