Clackamas Community College (CCC) class of 2016 cohort

U.S.A. Oregon

Hello! I thought I could start this thread to gather as many CCC nursing students who were just accepted into the program. I figured we could share our stories and get ready for our world as nursing students at Clackamas! Congrats to everyone and let's begin this journey! I am so excited!

So, today is the first day since I started the nursing school pre-reqs that I am not thinking/worrying about schoolwork. I decided to take the summer off, get my "act" together, work, work, work, save my pennies and prepare for what is to come...for which I have no idea what to expect...except that it will be amazing and a lot of work.

I did get a message from my assigned mentor and that was GREAT! She seems genuinely interested in helping with the transition. What a fantastic thing--the mentor program.

alewis513, I tried again to find yous guys on fb with the info that was mentioned. I did message a seemingly nice person with the same name--not you:yawn:. I am not able to pm you yet as I am new here...can you pm me? Perhaps I can reply?

I went to get blood drawn for the tb test this morning so I do feel as if things are moving along. I can't help but wonder if I should be reading/doing SOMETHING schoolish.

Feeling nutty and ready to get going...which is ironic considering all of the waiting that we just finished enduring!

Okay, I private messaged you.. see if you can write back. :)

I got an email yesterday from CCC talking about adding the Polio vaccine to our list of immunizations. I remember that I had the oral vaccine as a kid but in the email it said we must have record of the 3 shot vaccination. Is anyone else running into this?

Hi all!

I'm a CCC grad (just finished up last week.) I thought I would pop on here and congratulate everyone! It's such an fantastic adventure, and I loved it. It's a tough road, but totally worth it.

Please feel free to ask me questions about the program and my thoughts. I miss my friends already.

Enjoy your upcoming adventure. Don't prep anything this summer, juts have fun. School will be here soon enough.

Thanks for your post, and congratulations on graduating from nursing school! What an accomplishment!

That is interesting @JaymeeL. I didn't look at it closely because I was on vacation in Mexico when it came through. Anyway, I don't have records of any of my immunizations. I have no idea where my immunization card is! I'm having to get titers for everything :dead: In fact, I had one today for Polio thinking that would be enough (proving immunity). But if we need proof of the three shots, I'm not sure what I am going to do. Just get them all again? Maybe we should send an email to Carol or someone else confirming what we need for sure?

Thanks for the message, @NWNursing! Congratulations on making it through the program and graduating. I'm sure you're both excited and a little bit sad (that the journey with your friends is over). But, I can imagine that you're stoked to take the NCLEX and then start your career, too! Good luck on that front :)

I will definitely keep you in mind for questions about the program.

Hi first off i want to say congrats to all those who got accepted. I was curious to know what was done during the interview, what was asked, and if you guys had to write a letter or anything like that when you applied. I'm a current student of CCC and I'm hoping to get into the next years Nursing program. I am working on my BI classes this year and hoping to be done with BI-234 before the next open enrollment for nursing comes around. Any advise you could give me on the application process, interview and even on the bi-231 through bi-234 would be greatly appreciated. I know the year just started but i can hardly wait to be in the moment that all of you are experiencing. Once again Congrats and best of luck!

I took Bi231, 232, and 233 at CCC last summer. That accelerated summer course is CRAZY INTENSE, and I couldn't work while I was in school over the summer, but it was SO worth it to have it over with so quickly. I took it with -------------------(WHO IS AMAZING). Bi234 I took at a different college in CA. I can't speak for the schools up here in OR, but I loved micro and totally nerded out all semester. It was fun and I had a great professor. Good luck getting in to school! I've got my 3rd and 4th nursing program interviews tomorrow. So excited to be done with the interview process...then just waiting to hear about admission!
