City Colleges of Chicago: Fall 2012

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi!

I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have applied for the Fall 2012 Nursing Program at the City Colleges of Chicago. I have heard that they are letting people know on April 18th. Let's hope that's accurate because I'm so anxious to find out! Post here if you've heard anything at all in regards the the Nursing Program!

Hope to hear from everyone soon!

Kat

I guess I'm gonna start accepting the fact that I'm not gettin in

THanks Kat! And congrat's to you purple_gal! I understand what this means to everyone so I'm am celebrating with those that have been accepted and feel the pain of those who haven't heard yet.

I found all sorts of information on Truman's website and UIC's website about the transfer program. Basically you take all the courses that it says to take and you essentially get automatic acceptance to UIC to there BSN program.

So, yes, it takes a long time and you dish out more money but in the end it leaves you with a Bachelor's in nursing and UIC is one of the best nursing schools in the country. That would have been my top option but I'll be honest, I'm not getting any younger and I have 2 kids and one on the way and I work full time and I"m thinking I don't know about being a full-time college student for the next 4 years on top of all that.

I'm going to evaluate my options now.

EmanEMT, please don't let the waiting get the best of you, I was about to do the same!!! I felt like I was being slowly tortured. There is still hope! We have all worked too hard. I'm pretty sure your 3.8 GPA deserves an e-mail. Thanks for the congrats as well Bethany and Eman!

Bethany1975, you may want to look into some of the fast track BSN programs, they take 15-20 months as long as you have prereqs completed.

Well I know for everyone it has been a stressful situation. All taken into account it appears GPA is the major factor so if you do not get in this year, take a summer course get an A, and load up on courses in the fall that you can get all A's in. Seems like the most logical step to get into the program. Congrats to everyone who made it and for those who did not have a good beer, hang out with friends, or do something to take your mind off of this ordeal. It's not the end of the world and focus on how to bring up your GPA, a lot can happen in a year.

Do you think sending out an accepted email still going on? I got 3.74 and Teas 68. I didn't get any email. I'm so sad. Does anybody know any international student who got accepted?

@ Mu2012: they are still sending accepted emails out. I just received mine tonight!!! :)

i have a 3.45 GPA and 70% on the TEAS. maybe if you are anxious, you should email Dr. Gurney. I emailed her this morning asking about the status of my application and received a response at 10.38pm

HI TO EVERYONE WHO GOT ACCEPTED!!! :nurse:
