I know I'm not the only one not-so patiently waiting for May to come. Thought I'd get this thread going so we can all connect.

My GPA is 3.0 and correct my TEAS score was not passing but CCSF allows applicants to apply who did not pass. If you get selected you are to complete a remediation and retake TEAS before your start. I was accepted into fall 2024 but after just speaking with the dean of nursing at CCSF I have been pushed to Spring 2025 start because I still have to complete this. I am just thankful I got in. The TEAS score does not reflect how smart I am because I passed the HESI. I just was not prepared and hey everyone has a bad test day. My guess is I was selected by lottery but I also have an extensive experience in Medicine. I have been working in healthcare for 10 years. And I got my associates in science last year.
Anyways I hope you get in. Maybe you will get my fall 2024 seat since I was pushed to Spring 2025 start.
this TEAS admission info is on the CCSF nursing admissions website.
ATI "Test for Essential Academic Skills" (TEAS).
The TEAS score is required with the nursing application. The applicants must submit their FIRST ATTEMPT score. The applicant must receive an overall composite score of 62% passing on ATI TEAS first attempt in order to be eligible to enroll in the program. ONLY TEAS version 6 and 7 accepted.
Those applicants who do not receive an overall composite score of 62% on the ATI TEAS test must successfully complete a remediation plan and remediation coursework. The student must demonstrate successful completion of the remediation plan over one year and successful retaking of the ATI TEAS test with a passing score in order to be eligible for admission. If an applicant does not successfully complete the remediation plan and coursework or pass the exam the applicant is disqualified. The applicant will not be able to enroll in the Nursing Program and must reapply at a later date.

Wow! I really really hope that's the case because I applied with a 4.0, have volunteer hours, first gen, but I really did cut it close with the the bare minimum TEAS score of 64%. If it weren't for that I'd for sure have way more points. I really hope I get it. I'd be glad to retake the TEAS if I get accepted.

Correct. But those who did not pass TEAS are required to successfully pass remediation and retake/pass TEAS. From my understanding anyone who was selected for fall 2024 who did not pass will be pushed to start in Spring 2025 like me.
But this is good news to those on standby/waitlist. this means seats may open up for fall 2024. Wishing everyone still waiting the best of luck!

Any Spring 2025 applicants want to get in contact with each other for updates and etc ? Via Discord or email? I don't see anyway we can DM each other in this site
Losing Hope said: Yes, I saw that, too! It is disheartening to see people with super-low scores get in. I'm not trying to be mean, but why is this program lottery? Before I applied, I called the nursing department and asked if it would still be solely merit-based, and they confirmed that it was. I wish I had that in writing. It sucks, too, because I wanted to also apply to SF State's BSN program, but I was not allowed to. I had to choose either CCSF ADN to BSN or SF State BSN, which doesn't make sense. I would not have applied to CCSF if I knew it was a lottery. I would have only applied to the state and waited to apply to other CSUs when the application period came up. I feel like the nursing department misled me. Why choose people that didn't perform well? The program is impacted, so why not choose those who have proven themselves to perform well under pressure and score well, those who will most likely make it through to the end? If a student doesn't make it through to the end, it wastes their time. I'm sure my writing will upset those who got in via the lottery system, but this is how I feel. If it is a lottery, then why try at all?

I understand you are frustrated but most programs are merit based. If CCSFs process bothers you because they decided to make it half lottery that is unfortunate and there were many other RN programs in the bay area you could have selected that are all merit based. It was still half merit based so scores still mattered. Everyone who was picked still met the minimum requirements. The only difference is CCSF gives an opportunity to those who did not pass their TEAS the 1st time a chance to remediate. CCSF is one of the few programs that still does lottery.
Listen I understand you are upset and I mean there is still hope for you. But hating on those who got lucky with lottery is crazy. Listen I only shared me not passing the TEAS and my 3.0 GPA because I was trying to give hope to those like me that there is still hope. When you are constantly reading 4.0 and 90+ TEAS scores on all nurses for those who got in people get discouraged.
I am wishing you the best of luck. I hope you get in. 🙂

AHHHH! Shoutout to you! Their comment rubbed me the wrong way; and I most likely got in based on merit. It is one thing to be upset, but putting down others because you are upset shows an individual's true characteristics more often than not. They should only be angry at themselves for not applying to more schools and casting a wider net to ensure success.

EXACTLY! And at the end of the day like it or not when students get into CCSF not everyone in the cohort will have a 4.0 GPA or the highest scores that does not mean they won't make a good nurse. I have a good heart and I love helping people. I work full time and have a kid. I still worked hard to get in. I got in on my first try. God's plan.

I wish the best for everyone. I believe everyone deserves a chance.

I'm not hating on anyone. I am angry with the department misleading me. I will apply to other programs when the time comes. I'm not the only one here that is upset about the whole process, and I am allowed to say how I feel. Some of us have children to support and can't cast a "wide net." If I could I would move if need be to get into a program.

Thank you for being transparent about your stats and everything. The whole process was definitely a bit frustrating for me but no matter what, I'm still happy and excited for everyone who got in because at the end of the day, we all worked very hard to get to where we are.
Oh yes most definitely you are right! I know someone who attends the SF State BSN program and she's even said that she knows a few nursing students who didn't have your typical 4.0s 90%+ TEAS scores and were actual Cs students who she sees will make some very amazing nurses compared to a few of the book smart nurses she's seen. But as long as you have the passion of what it takes to be a nurse is one of the biggest aspects of the whole nursing entirety. But in all honesty, I think CCSF was very fair in the way they did their admission process by having both lottery and merit based gives everyone a good chance. But to be upset that others were chosen fair and square through lottery is crazy because again, everyone has a fair chance. Hopefully, they get in. As well as everyone else including myself still waiting for an answer. Good luck everyone and again congratulations to you it's amazing you got in ❤️

I agree with you. Many of the nurses I work with say once you are a nurse you are a nurse. And the GPA you carried means nothing. So 2.5 -4.0 we will all get through it. The nurse I work with went to CSM program and had Cs in school but hey she passed & she has been an RN for 10 years but is a compassionate and great nurse.
Thank you. I am still shocked I was selected. It is nice to know CCSF gives all students a fair chance at getting into their program.
I am wishing you the best of luck Ely. There is still hope. I know many students declining their spots with CCSF because they got into another program. Have faith and I will be praying for you girl! 🤞💜

Hello! New to this forum but I'm curious to know if anyone knows if CCSF will email us notifying that we have gotten on to a waitlist? Or is it just assumed if we have not heard back from admissions thus far? I see some have you have already been accepted (congrats you should be so proud of yourself!), I have yet to hear back so I guess I'm just trying to gain a better understanding for their acceptance/denial process since this is my first time applying.
