City College of San Francisco (CCSF) applicants 2024

I know I'm not the only one not-so patiently waiting for May to come. Thought I'd get this thread going so we can all connect.

Yes, I saw that, too! It is disheartening to see people with super-low scores get in. I'm not trying to be mean, but why is this program lottery? Before I applied, I called the nursing department and asked if it would still be solely merit-based, and they confirmed that it was. I wish I had that in writing.  It sucks, too, because I wanted to also apply to SF State's BSN program, but I was not allowed to.  I had to choose either CCSF ADN to BSN or SF State BSN, which doesn't make sense.  I would not have applied to CCSF if I knew it was a lottery. I would have only applied to the state and waited to apply to other CSUs when the application period came up.  I feel like the nursing department misled me.  Why choose people that didn't perform well?  The program is impacted, so why not choose those who have proven themselves to perform well under pressure and score well, those who will most likely make it through to the end?  If a student doesn't make it through to the end, it wastes their time.

I'm sure my writing will upset those who got in via the lottery system, but this is how I feel.  If it is a lottery, then why try at all?

Future nurses support future nurses! We came here to support each other.

I feel you. It took me 2 weeks to accept the fact that I couldn't get into the SFSU MSN program. I went through self-doubt, hate, and anger. After allowing myself to release the negative thoughts, I talked to myself about being resilient. I already planned that if I couldn't get into any nursing school this year, I would keep my current job and do CNA work for at least 1,000 hours to gain more points. This is my backup plan. It's okay to be sad, but bounce back when you are ready. Don't give up.

As I understand it, we can't apply for the ADN-BSN bridge program and the BSN program at the same time. The ADN-BSN bridge program is for students who already have their RN license. However, we could apply to the CCSF ADN program and the SFSU BSN program at the same time. Which advisor did you have? I talked to a couple of counselors and found Jim Wong to be super helpful and knowledgeable. He told me the ADN program was impacted and also gave me some alternative healthcare options. I hope this information can help!

So does anyone have any idea what the next process is after sending the acceptance letter back?

Specializes in CNA.

Congratulations for those who get accepted! I just graduate from the program

I called them, they said they will send a email and everything will be explained during orientation. Also, you can start doing your medical things. For 2025 Spring its gonna be around November

I think all that stuff is in orientation. But you can get your tiders and vaccines and gather all of your information before hand. Like for MMR etc.

Congrats on graduating! I was wondering how many units did you take during the first semester?

9 units plus clinical and simulations. It is busy.

Was the 9 units plus clinicals considered full time for FAFSA? I was wondering since I know full time usually consists of 12 units to be covered with aids/grants.
