Major Margaret Houlihan (Hot Lips) from M*A*S*H! A sassy, smart, confident leader! She wasn't afraid to

stand up for what she believed in- she always put her patients first but she was "real"- she had times when

her heart was on her sleeve.

Zoey Barkow- Nurse Jackie

Nurse Ratched from the "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is my favorite nurse. She is ranked as one of the best villains in the film industry. She was a cold ruthless women who had a controlling personality and thought she knew what was best for her patients. She isn't my favorite because of all that but she is the poster nurse for what not to aspire to as a nurse. I think we can all agree no one that comes close to her personality should be given the privilege of caring for anyone, but she is the one I always think of when I encounter that nurse that always seems angry. I think everyone that is a nurse thinks of Nurse Ratched at some point in their career. Come on, admit it we all know at least one nurse we've given the nickname Nurse Ratched. We may not have verbalized it but we all said it in our heads.

Specializes in Vascular Access.

Nurse Jackie. She's crazy as ****. I like that "they" portrayed her as a real person with real world problems. She's also a badass nurse that can take care of business.

Nurse Kratchett on "Misery"

Carol Hathaway from er. She stood up for nurses, patients, staff and did what needed to be done.

Nurse Pam from Wayward Pines season 1. I know the show was way out there but nurse Pam was dedicated and always in the know. My favorite line is "I know you let Peter McCall do your job for you. You might have fooled everyone else, but I'm a Registered Nurse". I lost it and I love that line still today, because it's true. You can't fool a nurse.

Dixie McCall in the old show Emergency.

Carol Hathaway RN , ER

Specializes in acute dialysis, Telemetry, subacute.
Specializes in Med/Surge, Psych, LTC, Home Health.

For TV I'm going to vote for Dixie McCall from Emergency.

For movies... I loved Eleanor in "Awakenings", played by Julie Kavner.

She had such a sweet, gentle spirit. I can watch that movie all day and

see her as the nurse that I aspire to be.

Also, can't forget Nurse Baymax from "Big Hero 6", my spirit animal. :)
