Hey y’all!
Since the application opened for the nurse residency program at CHOA, I decided to start a thread ? I’m so nervous but I have officially submitted my application. Best of luck y’all. Let the games begin!

Just wanted to give a little update from my school. Two of my fellow nursing classmates were CHOA externs and they accepted jobs at the beginning of January in the PICU. Another girl got Calls for an interview with PICU and another one with the ED on 1/22 (from what I know, both were external applicants). I applied in mid December and haven’t heard anything yet. Application is still under review. I applied to NICU.

Thank you for the update! We’re both in similar situations. NICU was one of my top units but at this point I would really accept any if I could get a call back or interview. I also applied within days of the application opening. Hopefully they start calling us soon or we can get some sort of an update.

I hope so!! I’d be happy anywhere at CHOA too, but I heard it is just really hard to get in Externally if you don’t know someone.

For those who have accepted jobs with CHOA, does anyone mind sharing the offered hourly wages and shift differentials? Thanks!

Are there any external applicants that have heard anything yet?

I'm external and applied to the NICU a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything. It's nice to know I'm not the only one ? Also yes it'd be so nice to learn the hourly pay and differentials! I'm currently in DC so trying to figure out pay at places out of state is really hard. Places I thought would be similar (i.e. Vanderbilt) pays much less than DC, so I'm hoping Atlanta isn't the same!

I was hired internally and offered $27.75/hr! Don't know what differentials will be.

Hey guys, I finally heard back. If you haven't received anything try looking in the spam folder the email is titled hirevue. I have an interview at Hughes Spalding ER! How was the digital interview that some of you have already done?!

Congratulations @futurern5505!!!

@hbrantley12 Have you completed the hirevue digital interview already? I did it a while ago and didn’t hear back. Very standard mix of behavioral questions or asking stuff from your resume. Are you set up for an in person interview? And are you external? Thanks ?

Hey everyone! I completed my digital interview on 2/1/20 and haven’t heard anything back yet. How long does CHOA take to contact you after the digital interview?

I don't remember all of the differentials off the top of my head but if you work a weekend night shift it's $8.50! That's the max differential you can get... I don't remember exactly what weekend and night is separately. I think nights is 5ish and weekends are 3ish. Unfortunately CHOA doesn't offer critical care differential, but I believe the ICUs base may be a little higher than med surg!

Thank you! I am external. I did complete the digital interview! My in person interview is March 2nd!

Any updates y'all?
