Hey y’all!
Since the application opened for the nurse residency program at CHOA, I decided to start a thread ? I’m so nervous but I have officially submitted my application. Best of luck y’all. Let the games begin!

I also applied externally but haven't heard anything back yet! ? When did you guys who just did digital interviews hear back originally?! And when did you apply?!

I applied around Christmas time and had my digital interview about a week later!

@dga123 do you remember any of the questions from the digital interview?! I'm about to do mine and I'm nervous, I've never done this before!! ?

They were super basic interview questions like why CHOA, why nursing, and behavioral questions!

Just wanted to chime in and say I applied a few days after the residency application opened and mine also still says under review. Internal apps are still being reviewed from people I have talked to. Hopefully we hear something in the next month or so...

I applied 2 weeks ago and got a rejection letter a week later ? good luck to everyone!!! Question though, are all of you BSN?

Yes. I am. I’m surprised though because I thought CHOA accepts ADN. I’ve seen plenty working in the ER

That may not be it then. It could be that I have no experience other than clinicals. I’ve applied for tech positions everywhere for the past couple of years. No luck

Sorry to hear that. CHOA is very selective from what I heard and they love to hire internally or with references from current employees. If you know someone working there it could definitely boost your chances the next residency round or if you wanna work as a tech before then. Good luck

Unfortunately now CHOA will only hire BSN due to their recent magnet status. If you see ADN prepared nurses working there it is because they were grandfathered in since they worked there prior to the hospital obtaining magnet status. Hope this helps!

Just wanted to give a little update from my school. Two of my fellow nursing classmates were CHOA externs and they accepted jobs at the beginning of January in the PICU. Another girl got Calls for an interview with PICU and another one with the ED on 1/22 (from what I know, both were external applicants). I applied in mid December and haven’t heard anything yet. Application is still under review. I applied to NICU.
