Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start this thread for everyone applying to CHLA's RN Residency Program starting in September 2019 so that we can keep each other posted on application status, interviews and whatnot. I applied to 4 East Hem-onc, what about you all?

Are you doing your Residency there? How is the work environment there? I would love to hear any feedback from your experience or what you've heard. Thanks a lot!

Hey there! Yes, I did my peds clinical rotation there as well as my preceptorship for school. I absolutely fell in love with the hospital and work environment during my clinical rotation which is why I wanted to do my preceptorship there. I ended up on 4E for preceptorship which is their HemOnc floor and I LOVED IT! The management was great, the nurses were super friendly and the patients were amazing of course. There was no doubt for me that that’s where I belong. Not sure what other feedback your looking for? I’m sure the experience would vary depending on what floor you’re on so just kind of depends where you applied.

In regard to the grad program, I’ve heard its very challenging and tiring, but I already sort of prepared myself for that so that didn’t come as much of a surprise to me. I did hear it goes by fast and from what I’ve experienced everyone seems to be very supportive. If you have any other questions let me know! I’ll do my best to answer ?

I have not heard back yet! Still hopeful though because I heard it takes 4-5 week until they start reaching out for interviews.

I haven’t heard back either! I think we will hear this month!

Applied to hem onc and got invited to do a video screening today! Hope all of you hear back as well ?

Did they call you or email you?

I’m Heart Institute, but haven’t gotten anything yet ?

Specializes in Pediatric Med/surg.

I'm from Chicago and I'll be graduating in May, I applied to BMT and haven't heard anything yet. Good luck everyone ?

Applied to hematology oncology and got an email today for an interview! Hopefully other floors hear soon

I got an email today! I applied to 5West stepdown and received an in person interview on the 15th. I believe its a speed interview, only about 20 minutes long. ?

Congrats to everyone who has heard so far!! Out of curiosity - did your status change on the app from SUBMITTED to anything else? Mine still says SUBMITTED. If anyone hears about Heart Institute, please let me know! And I’ll obviously do the same ?

@hritchie13 just checked and my status online actually didn’t change
