Hi everyone! I just wanted to start this thread for everyone applying to CHLA's RN Residency Program starting in September 2019 so that we can keep each other posted on application status, interviews and whatnot. I applied to 4 East Hem-onc, what about you all?

Hi all!! Congrats to all who have gotten offers so far!!

So I’m going in for my second round interview on Friday for The Heart Institute, and I’m super excited! A couple of questions for those who have finished the process if you don’t mind:

1. How quickly after your second round interview did you find out you got it?

2. Does anyone know what the schedule is like for the program, or is it different by unit? I know it’s 22 weeks, but is it all classroom based for that time, or clinicals as well? Is it 8 hours/5days a week kind of thing, or some clinical 12 hour days mixed in there too? The Heart Institute is night shift, so will I be working that shift during the 22 week program, or will that start afterwards?

Sorry I know that’s a lot, just trying to get a gauge as to what to expect!

1. I found out about my offer exactly one week after my second interview. I had also asked them during my interview by when they would have decisions and they did tell me one week, so definitely ask your unit.

2. During my second interview with the nurse leaders and education manager they brought up the fact that the RN program's schedule will be ALL over the place. They said you mainly follow your preceptor's schedule but will also be doing didactic classes from time to time. They said you can be working days one day and nights the other. They also mentioned that you may absolutely not take any time off during the program. Lastly, my offer letter stated 3 12 hour shifts with no specification of day/nights, my guess is that it'll be determined once the 22 weeks are done.

Good luck on your second interview! I think that most of your questions will be answered by your unit managers, but if they don't, definitely ask them, they'll inform you better than I can lol Good luck!

Hello! Did they call you to notify you about an offer or did they just email you an offer? Just wondering since I had my interview last week.

Hi! They called me exactly a week after my second interview with an offer. Then the following week they sent me an email with the formal written offer. Good luck!
