Hi everyone! I created this thread for all of us who are applying to the RN Residency at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for the September 2018 cohort. We can keep each other posted on application status and interviews. What unit did everyone apply to? I applied to the NICCU.

Got a second round in-person interview for heme onc!

Does anyone have any idea of what they will ask in the second round of interviews?

Just got an email to schedule my second round interview for the ED! I think it will be online since I live out of state but they didn't specify. Good luck to everyone else!

Anyone hear back from PICU yet for second round interviews?

I did the speed interview with them and am dying over here wanting to know if there is any word on second rounds yet?

Can anyone shed some more light on the questions that they ask during the speed interview? Is it more like what are your strengths and where are you from type questions? Or are they including some of the harder questions, ie. behavior, etc.?

I can only speak for the heart unit, but it was definitely more strength/weakness, tell me about yourself type questions. They capped it at exactly 10 minutes, and there was not too much time left for questions. Everyone was very friendly, welcoming so just be confident - they like what they saw on paper and just want to get to know you a little more!

Got an email yesterday from Hem/Onc for the second round of interviews.

I just interviewed with Heart institute yesterday! They were so so nice. They mentioned they'd be getting back to us by the end of next week as far as second round interviews. Good luck!!

Congratulations! Thanks for the update as well. If you don't mind me asking, which floor within the Heart Institute did you interview for?

The nurse residency for the Heart Institute is different than any other floor- that was one of my questions too, during my interview. They told me that the residency would be a mix of the cardiovascular acute unit at first, then transition to the CTICU. If I get a followup interview next week, I plan to ask them more about residency specifics- it was just 10 minutes :)

I did not know that. Im still waiting and hoping for a call for an interview, it is probably late for that, but Astill hopeful. Did you have any kind of hospital related experience?

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. They didn't mention anything about finishing up interviews this week, but hopefully you'll hear back. Yes, I had a nursing externship at a children's hospital in their Cardiac ICU, and my senior practicum all this semester in the PICU.
