CHLA RN Residency March 2020

Published

Hello friends! This thread is for everyone applying to CHLA's RN Residency Program starting in March 2020. Hopefully we can keep each other posted on the application process, interviews and whatever else. I'm trying to apply to their NICCU! What about you?

Hi guys!! So just finished the video interview! Honestly, I psyched myself out beforehand but during it, I felt good. Questions I received were expected like - why CHLA? Or why this department? What would you do in this situation? What will you do if you don't get the position?

Hope this helps! I recommend writing out my answers and then doing a quick rehearsal, and then actually recording myself. You get unlimited times of recording an Intro Video (no prompt or anything) and only one shot for the rest of the questions.

Good luck!!

Just did mine on my phone. Pretty easy process, good luck!

Okay, just to be clear.

I submitted the application and completed the on demand video interview prescreen. Is that all we need to do?

I believe so! I'm not sure what else there could be so I guess just hang tight haha

Hi all!

I'm very interested in applying for the March 2020 cohort, but I graduate this fall (December 2019.) I've looked around online, but I haven't seen anything specifically stating that you're able to apply if you haven't graduated yet. Is anyone able to confirm that you don't have to be a graduate at the time of application? I plan on taking my NCLEX in January, so I'll be fine for the March 2020 start date.

Hi! Yes, you're able to apply for the position as long as you have your license by the Friday before the residency begins, which starts on Monday, March 9th, 2020.

It's listed in the job description: "Minimum Requirements: New graduate or will graduate and will have a RN license by March 2020 and will have less than one year of nursing experience in any nursing area. A BSN is required."

Hi everyone! I applied for Med/Surg D5, I hope we all get good news!

Congrats! That's exciting. I've been noticing that some of the postings are still up, and others are coming down one by one. Looks like The Heart Institute, 6E and NICCU are all taken down so perhaps people will start getting calls for these units soon.

If you don't mind me asking, are you local to LA? And what are the details regarding dates for your panel?

Thank you! I’m from San Diego. My nursing program was an accelerated BSN in SD but I got my first degree in LA/lived there for a few years so I dunno if that mattered. I’m interviewing on the 14th and was told it would be about 20 mins.

Hey! I applied to the PICU and I’m still waiting to hear. I feel like I’m checking my emails every 10 minutes ?

Happy to hear that I'm not the only one checking my phone every 10 minutes, hoping to hear back from the PICU too! ?
