Chinese births in U.S. hospitals?

Has anyone noticed the increase in Chinese birthing homes?

Chinese women being promised a "painless" birth in the united states?

Articles about how it's cheapening citizenship etc? Is there a weird conspiracy in this? Is it one of those lets-cement-the-middle-class-things?

Dishes and myself are Canadian.

Our system has been used and abused by many nationalities. Chinese and Indians who travel to give birth here. Americans have come north for 'free' surgeries. We do the procedures and then try to bill.

A friend worked in a large hospital in Vancouver, late 80s and early 90s, it wasn't the wealthy who came from Hong Kong to give birth. Many women came without travel insurance or cash to deliver. Normal income, came to visit family, must have got the dates wrong, stayed less than 90 days, skipped the bill and returned to Hong Kong with their new Canadian.

Live close to the Us border? Americans have crossed to have their appendix out, detached retinas repaired. Heck, their have even been posters in the past who've asked about hospital's where they can give birth for free up here!

People from the Caribbean also go to Florida to give birth. I know a family who did it with at least one of their children and heard of others.

I'm trying to figure how this could bother me and other than being paranoid into thinking they're trying to build a covert military I can't think of anything.

The US has way more problems and expense with our own citizenship and I'd like to see more efforts made to help reduce impoverished US born and raised children than worry about $$$ paid into our economy for someone to be able to return alone in 18 yrs.

Admittedly, I'm not well versed on the issues and may sound ignorant.

I have seen it all. Even had a mom get on a plane from Africa post PROM with a cerclage holding her twins in place till she landed and sought medical help 24 hours later....

I have no problem with medical tourism if you plan to pay your way. But when you deliver million dollar NICU babies that my tax dollars pay for I get a little prickly.
