Children's Hospital Colorado Nurse Residency August 2021

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to start this thread for those who applied to CHC Nurse Residency Program for August 2021. Good luck to everyone!

Anyone hear from Anschutz yet?  Which units did you all apply for?

No, I haven’t heard from Anschutz yet— I’m preffing PICU, NICU, and CPCU. How about you guys?

Hey all!!

I still haven't heard anything yet either- I'm wondering if they will still be contacting people with offers in June since the website says interviews/offers will take place May-June? 

I'm kinda scared of accepting an offer somewhere else and then finding out too late I got an interview at CHC...

Hi all! I applied to just Colorado Springs. I am still waiting to hear back too and definitely have the same fear. CHC would be my top choice, but I have another job offer at the moment. I don't want to say no in hopes of getting a job offer from CHC, but I don't want to say yes to this job and find out too late about an interview with CHC.

Do you guys think it would be a good/bad idea to email the program and ask where they are in the process and if spots are already filling? I am nervous specifically about the COS location because I know there were only 4 units that were taking new grads, so I don't want to get my hopes up.

What four units at the Springs location are taking new grads?

This very well could be an old document based on the file name, but on the main page describing the residency program (https://www.childrenscolorado.org/about/careers/careers-at-childrens/nursing/graduate-residency-program/) they link a document listing the units that are hiring new grads -https://www.childrenscolorado.org/495c90/globalassets/about/nurse-residency-program-unit-descriptions.pdf 

Based on this, the 4 units I saw for Springs were NICU, Med/Surg, PICU, and ED.

Hey! I think it doesn't hurt to email them and ask but I don't think it is going to help speed up their decision or anything. I was in the same situation. I had an offer from another top children's hospital but am more interested in CHCO so emailed them and let them know. They didn't respond for a long time and I ended up declining the other offer and just praying for the best! Super scared now haha. But they responded to me yesterday and told me that some units have begun inviting people for interviews, while other units have not even started. They said you can get an interview invite until June 30th. But that's all they were able to share with me. Maybe they'll tell you something else if you email though!

June 30th as the latest date to get an interview invite?! Wow that’s late. I’m from out of state and I feel like it’s risky to put all your eggs in one basket by turning down another offer but also understand if it’s what your gut tells you. Praying for the best for all of you, I hope we get it????
