Children’s Hospital Colorado New Grad Nurse Residency March 2021

Published

Hey all! Just starting a thread for those who’ve applied to the upcoming March 2021 cohort for Children’s Hospital Colorado. I know the application period does not end until Dec 11, but wanted to start the topic early for those who want to ask questions, advice, consult, chit chat, etc.

Hey! I applied to both locations! Have you heard anything? (I made a thread too because I did not see yours and no one has replied yet there)

Heyyyy! Nope, nothing yet. Hopefully we’ll hear back before the end of the year?

Fingers crossed. I found a thread on here from last year and one location started calling people December 17, 2019 so maybe we will hear in the next few days! What units did you list as your preference?

oooh good sleuthing!! hopefully the next week or so then! I applied for Ambulatory Services, Lvl 8 General Medicine, and Urgent Care/Inpatient. what about you?

Peds ED, Med Surg, and Oncology for both hospitals I believe!

Hi there!

I applied to both locations as well, but have not heard anything back yet either. Quick question though, how did you guys know they were hiring for those units you mentioned above? I thought I read from the actual job posting that it was just for PICU, Peds ED, and Med Surg, so that's what I put. I'm bummed because there are some specialty units I would have loved to apply for!

Hey there! I haven’t heard back either yet. On their website, the main page for the nurse residency program has a section “Application Requirements”, and has a downloadable list of units currently hiring for the residency, which is how I made my unit choices. I don’t think the job posting reflected that though, which is a bummer. :(

I saw the list too but I wasn't sure if that was updated accurately and assumed the only units hiring were the ones on the posting ? I was sad there weren't many but also not surprised d/t covid. Oh well, I'm just hoping we hear back soon!

Me too! Honestly, I would happily accept any position just to be at the hospital working with kids. I really hope we hear back soon!

It says candidate notification December 2020 so that makes me a tad nervous.

Also, do you think it would be worth emailing them and asking about the units available? I would hate not to be considered if they are not running the specialty units and those are my only preferences.

I don't think it would hurt to give them a call or email to clarify! Especially as the posting wasn't super straightforward on that aspect. Plus, it would also show you're serious about the position!

Ahh, I didn't realize it said candidate notification in December ? That bums me out a little bit.
