Hi everyone.
I am planning on applying to Chico states' Nursing program for spring start. I just got my acceptance letter for the school itself, but have no yet applied to the program yet.
I just want to know about the school a little more. I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the city itself and the school, the good and the bad.
If you can just tell me your opinions about the academics, the staff, and faculty I would love to hear.
I would also appreciate what you think of the people and the city itself.
I have a tour scheduled for in a few weeks, but I really would like to hear what other people think too.
Thank you! :)
k2115, I know the chart youre talking about but it doesnt show what you tell me. haha Oh well.
The only scary part really is that you may think you have a certain amount of points but it could change according to which points the program awards us.
Ceci, I just found a medical record i was given when I got my TB test. I'm not sure how to read it but it looks like I need to get all those vaccines, since i havent received any of those since i was a little kid. Haha. Not sure how i prove that I had chicken pox though. Except, for the fact that I have a letter that proves I had the shingles which derives from the same virus.
The titers are blood tests to check if you have immunity. If you had varicella (chicken pox/shingles) and the MMR shot as a baby or kid you probably have immunity so you can just get the titers to check/prove you have immunity, then you don't have the get the vaccines. As for the flu shot, you will have to get that every year. The Hep B vaccine you may need--I got it as an adult. It's a series of 3 spaced out shots over several weeks (and they hurt like heck). TB test will probably have to be current--likely within the year. You probably need the Tdap shot also, the version we got as kids is a little different and not valid anymore. As for meningitis, I think it is optional (I might be wrong about this one) but highly recommended for those living in the dorms.
It might be worth it to get a titer drawn for hep b. you have to have it to start middle school.. I didn't think I had had the series, but titer says I'm immune. The chart is up there, all my friends have been looking at it as well. We might be looking in different places. And you can just write a statement saying you had chickenpox as a child, and that's enough.

I didn't see it online, that's what P.R. said at the advising session.
