Anyone else getting ready to apply for the 2018 nursing program?

Specializes in Medical Telemetry / Progressive Care.

I emailed my form as well and they replied back "thank you for your response"

This past weekend, I had an issue with consent. I had a patient who needed a non emergent medical intervention who was in non-violent restraint. I was unable to get in contact with any family members of this patient.

Can a patient in non-physical restraints (like an enclosure bed and bilateral mittens) consent to medical treatments?

Technically no they cannot consent if they are in a non-violent restraint. Because obviously they are not of sound mind, if they were they would not need a non-violent restraint. Technically if the POA is not available for consent it takes 2 medical providers to document that the intervention is necessary for the patient's well being.

Launch pad is up as well as the facebook group

Edit: I can't find the facebook group, but I don't have a facebook...

Make one so you can join the group! :)

I personally never want a facebook again. I got rid of mine 8 years ago and good riddance. After class starts, ya'll will know who I am and just keep me informed about study groups :D

FYI we had quite a few people who refused to be on Facebook during our first term last year. They ended up making a Facebook just for school. A lot of important info gets shared through there....ie questions to teachers regarding content, up coming tests, assignments, deadlines, etc. many teachers will ask students to post to the Facebook.

So, I'm sorry I just remembered to post this the last day of the week but my wife wanted me to mention that ISCRUBS (at least the Cherokee part of it) is having happy scrubs week this week and its 20% off your order, which is nice considering the Chemeketa scrubs website isn't working and you can't get the student discount. Scrubs are pricey...

Hello everyone I hope you are enjoying the program. I’m considering applying but I was wondering how long you are on campus. Is it M-F 8-3 like most programs? I don’t know if I could make it work and I’m trying to see how much my son would need to be in daycare.

No, everyday is different. Some can be 8-9:30 and some are 8-3. But we get a new calendar for the whole term at the very beginning of the term so you can plan ahead.

That is for lecture, for clinical it is usually 1 day a week and 12 hour shifts. Sometimes it is 8 hours and you can either be 6-2 or 2-10 shift. Also, you may have Saturday 12 hour clinical.

Overall it varies but that is the jist. It is definitely not consistent but getting the schedule at the beginning of the term allows people to plan their childcare. You and your childcare just have to be flexible.

Linn-benton is the worst nursing school in Oregon. I have good grades and do very well but LBCCs nursing program has been the most miserable experience of my entire life.

Why is it so bad at Linn-Benton? I am at LCC right now. It is a lot of hard work but I thought all nursing schools were like that?
