Hey! I thought I would start a thread for those who applied for Chemeketa's program this year in hopes to begin Fall 2015. I just did my essay yesterday afternoon :) I know it's rare to get in your first try, and I would need full points on my essay to even have a chance, but it would still be neat to keep in touch with some others who have also applied! Good luck everyone! I would love to hear from you!
Hi all. Congrats to everyone accepted into a program. I am alternate # 19 on Chemeketa's list. My stats 357.5/360. A's in 231 & 232. B's in 233 & 234. 50/50 on essay. Out of distinct. On PCC's wait list as well. Still hopeful.
Just to reinforce how varied the waitlist is and that higher grades overall bear little weight in ranking. I am #20 on the waitlist. I have a score of 356, an "A" in every class, except for 234, which I have a "B" in. Obviously, I lost four points on my essay. I live in the district.
It sounds like they might be making some changes, so I don't know how pertinent our experience is. For me, I made sure I had A's in everything the school considered a pre-req. Chemeketa only counted those ones, and they picked the stuff off my transcripts that put me in the best light. They didn't ask for medical experience/volunteering info, but I mentioned it in my essay. I think the best way to get in is to have A's in everything and ALL your pre-reqs done (which annoys me, because in order to make the application deadline, all classes must be complete the winter term beforehand- so you basically do nothing for 3 terms while waiting for classes to start). For the essay, I read the prompts, wrote responses to both and then almost memorized them. I actually recorded myself reading the essays, then listened to them in the car on the way, which seems a little over-the-top now :)
I got A's in all my pre reqs, my overall is Very high also though. I went over what I wanted to write about in my head, but I did not write it beforehand. I love writing, and I'm good at it, so writing the essay on the spot was not difficult. I'm sure if I had written and memorized I would've gotten a 50/50, rather than 48/50, but I was still satisfied with the result. I have a been a CNA for ten years, and I mentioned that in my essay. It is my understanding that next year they're not doing essays. They're doing the Kaplan test. Good luck! It's quite the experience.

So was that wait for the emails exhausting or what? I'm in, and I'm pretty sure I'll be going in the fall. I'm a "highly likely" alternate for OHSU's accelerated program, and if they offer me a last-minute spot for summer I might accept, but probably not if they offer fall. If I accept for summer I'll post on here.
