Chem and Anatomy together?

Published

What do you think of taking Chemistry and Anatomy in the same semester? Those are the only two classes that I am registered for this fall, except a one-credit Nursing History course that is required the first semester. People suggest NOT taking two sciences together, so I am concerned. But you see, most of the "easier" classes transferred over due to my bachelor's degree that I got 8 years ago. So now, it seems all I have are science classes, plus one psychology and one fine arts. (I am combining the psych class with my Physiology and Finite Math class for the Spring '07 semester. And I am combining the fine arts with my Microbiology for next summer. Then, all I have left are Nursing classes).

So, I really basically have no choice but to combine Chem and Anatomy this fall ... I am concerned, though, because I am the mother of two young sons (ages 3 and 1). I have a very supportive husband and mother, so that is encouraging. But I just hope Chem & Anatomy together won't run me over like a mack truck! :) Any advice?

Thanks!

I took chem and a+p 1 together then micro and a+p 2 together. Both AP classes were an accelerated 8 week course. I had group member who had kids the same age as yours and she did the same. Its tough, extremely stressful but in the end worth it because you are done! I am sure you can do it. You've come this far!!!

I would not do chemistry and anatomy together unless I had a good chemistry and biology background. If you are not good in science, taking those two courses together is going to be a nightmare. I took chemistry in the summer of 2004, it was tough. In chemistry, you need time to understand how to balance equations and anatomy, you need time to memorize bones. Good luck to you

I can't say much for taking Chem and A and P together because that's what i'm doing. I'm taking chem, A & P, and bio lab all at once. So this semester if i'm not in class, ill be studying. Good luck to you.

I took anatomy in high school so hopefully taking chem and a&p at the same time won't be too much.

I think it depends on the person and the level of commitment they are willing to give. I took Chemistry at the same time as Microbiology and Human Growth and Development. I worked hard and got A's all three courses. For Chem I spend at least four hours a week on lecture a week and four hours or more on lab a week...none of this included studying for tests....expecially when it came to mole conversons...barf-ola! My chem partner and I would get together every Friday at 8:00, work on labs, study etc until about noon and then drink and play video games...it was a must!!LOL:lol2:

Personally, I would not take AorP with Chem, maybe micro because they are related....but thats me.

It depends on your personality, if you work, out-of-school stresses, and past experience. I'm taking Anatomy & Physiology (two separate classes) this semester and Chem & Micro in the Spring - but I've taken all in the past with the exception of Micro, so I'm already familiar with the courses.

Hey guys. Just thought I'd add that I'm taking Bio, Chem, and Anatomy together this fall. (I've already taken Physiology and Micro, and I got married a year ago next week!) I know its alot, but it will be well worth it come application time, right? :D

I totally agree with the posters that said it depends on your personality and the level of committment you're willing to give. And of course the reality of whether or not you think you can with the little boys around. I think you'll be fine, and I'm rooting for ya! :D

GOOD LUCK!
