  1. I need some serious help. I am applying to several RN programs that are a BSN to masters 2nd degree track. I have to take my GREs and I am very nervous about it. I took them once without really prepping for it and didnt do well. Does anyone have any tips or study guides that they used that helped? I got 6 months to prepare but everytime I go to a bookstore i get overwhelmed with so many books and guides offered. ~Belle
  2. I took chem and a+p 1 together then micro and a+p 2 together. Both AP classes were an accelerated 8 week course. I had group member who had kids the same age as yours and she did the same. Its tough, extremely stressful but in the end worth it because you are done! I am sure you can do it. You've come this far!!!
  3. It is so bad the wait lists are impossible. At this point i will go anywhere...I have long forgotten about picking a school i prefer. As long as i get then woohoo!!! I'm 24 soon to be 25 and hope to be done by the time im 30 but I no longer want to get my hopes up for that.
  4. Hello everyone again, Thanks for all the kind words. It just gets totally frustrating!! Quick question though, does anyone have any guides or tips for practicing for the GREs. I've taken them twice and havent done well despite my good grades so i will using the year to practice for it. Any ideas? Thanks again everyone for all the positive words!
  5. Hello Everyone, I am just writing to vent. I didnt get accepted into any programs this fall. I am a little bummed out because i just want to get the ball rolling. I have a degree in psychology and decided to go back to school for nursing. I applied everywhere and my grades are fine (3.5overall) and I didnt get accepted. Part of me is a little relieved to take this year and just work and pay off previous school loans and such but I'm a little depressed at hearing everyone that is getting started. I have a huge stash of applications for next fall and I am keeping my fingers crossed already. Well thanks everyone for just listening..... ~Belle~
  6. STN2003, Can i ask where you are located? I have applied to hospitals before via online applications but never ever heard back. All i could ever find with my psych degree is being a residential counselor. I pretty much was doing the Mental health professional thing but really couldn't deal with the whole restraining thing. I am very petite and have gotten seriously injured and became afraid of going to work. I just hate restraining period. Now i just have a desk job and am not really using my psych background at all. I let the fear really get to me but at the same time I'm only 5foot 2 inches and cannot possibly restrain a grown man (which i was expected to do before). Belle
  7. Kare117, I taking my pre-reqs at Mass Bay Community College right now. I havent spoken to anyone at the school about Phlebotomy program but have looked at the website. Its only a one semester certification. I hope I can complete it and start right away. I will definately look into the LPN program. I just get mixed advice from people. Before now ive been told to stay away from LPN programs. I am just so confused. Thanks for the offer about advice!!!! So grateful about all this info, ~Belle
  8. Great start with the Yoga. Try to find other things (reading, exercising, journal writing etc) that you can do that youd enjoy before you decide to get off the medication. Its all about finding ways to cope with all that stress. I found that exercise helped me. I was on Paxil then Zoloft for a year then got off with once I found things that would help me cope with depression and anxiety. But give yourself time to figure it all out. ~Belle
  9. Wow thanks for all the great words. I'm getting so discouraged that Im finding it difficult to stay focused on A&P 2 and Micro right now. Thanks for the rate of salary. I didnt expect to be making much more anyways but better than restraining people all day and getting home bruised and battered. ~Belle
  10. How do i find out how long it would take to get licensed for phlebotomy? Should i just ask my school? Thanks for all the info. It really helped a lot especially because I seem to get the run around at my school. They keep telling me to do this Surgi tech track that i really dont want to. Belle
  11. I live in Massachusetts. Thanks for the advice. I didnt know about that. I'm going to look into how long it would take to get licensed. I just want to work in a hospital. I am in a dead end job right now and just want to move on somewhere. Belle
  12. My discouragment is aweful right now. I am completely frustrated. I will have to look into the LPN option but unfortunately I think they are full too. But thank you for the words of encouragement. Belle
  13. Hello All, The wait list for the AD programs in my area are 2-3 years. I am still waiting to hear from 2 schools but am just getting really anxious. First a little background info on me. I have a degree in Psychology and decided to return to school and do nuring something I've always wanted to do. The Human Service field really burnt me out and my heart wasnt into wanting to be a counselor anymore. I got back into school and have been doing all the science pre-reqs. This may (2006) I will have completed all the A&Ps, chem, micro. I have applied to get into various AD programs and some accelerated BSN to MSN nursing programs. My gpa is good i think (overall 3.5) but it is very tough to get into a program. Especially because most of my classes need to be transferred and some schools just dont like that. My take on the whole situation is I do not want to take classes that I've already taken and did great in. I do not have the money or the time to retake english classes etc. I do not mind waiting to get into a program but i am thinking of doing a phlebotomy certification while i wait. It is only 1 semester and at least i would be working in a hospital while i am waiting for the nursing programs to open up. Does anyone have any advice? I am losing with all this and just am trying to sort out my future plans. ~Belle~
  14. Congrats...still waiting for mine......wish me luck.....
